As the crowd fills up and the sounds of basketballs dribbling echo throughout the court, the spotlight shines on sophomore Soule Osborne, the captain of the girls’ varsity basketball team. For the past three years, Osborne has been a part of the Lady Jags varsity basketball team. Due to her contribution and leadership, she has been nominated as Jaguar of the week for the week of January 12-16.
Throughout her captain role, Osborne claims that her determination for the program benefits not only her as a player but also her whole team as she leads them to victories.

She explains how her motivation comes from her deep-rooted passion for reaching “the big leagues.” Osbourne adds that her main goal is to compete at the collegiate level and maybe even professionally. She explains, “I feel like I have the drive and motivation to make it far!”
Osbourne highlights the word “student” in “student-athlete.” She focuses heavily on her schooling and juggles the weight of her sport, which consumes all of her hours after school. Osborne emphasizes, “ I apply my discipline and time management skills in order to fit everything together.”
Beyond academics and athletics, she is intentional about how she spends her time outside of academics. She adds that there is a healthy balance when creating a controlled lifestyle when it comes to managing how her time is spent. She mentions, “I make time for friends and family, but I also volunteer at a church helping young kids get a better understanding of God.”
She briefly notes how a key part of her success is the close bond that she holds with her twin sister, Marai Osborne. As they play alongside each other on the court for the Lady Jags Basketball team, their ‘twin connection’ with one another allows them both to rely on one another in moments of struggle.
Through her contributions to the Lady Jags basketball team and as team captain, Osbourne continues to shine at Charter and will make sure her mark on the court is permanent.
