Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week thirty-three of The Claw spring sports edition. Last week was an eventful one, as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report.
Dominating the waters: Lady Jags water polo
Last week, the Lady Jags’ water polo team competed in the district tournament and were labeled the champions as they went 2-0. First, they faced off against Western High School on Tuesday, April 7, and won 21–6. Then, they faced off against Cypress Bay High School in the championship on Wednesday, April 8, and won 19-9.Â
Currently, they hold a record of 6-9 and are roaring into regionals, which starts this week on Tuesday, April 14, @12:15pm at home against South Broward High School and continues throughout the week.Â
Making a splash: Jag Boys water polo
Last week, the Jag Boys water polo team competed in the district tournament and were labeled the champions as they went 2-0. First, they faced off against Western High School on Tuesday, April 7, and won 11–6. Then, they faced off against Cypress Bay High School on Wednesday, April 8, in the championship and won 13-11.Â
Currently, they hold a record of 6-9 and are roaring into regionals, which starts this week on Tuesday, April 14, @4:30pm at home against Northeast High School and continues throughout the week.Â
Claws out: Lady Jags softball
Last week, the Lady Jags varsity softball team went 4-0 as they competed in the Orange Bowl tournament. On Thursday, April 9, they faced off against St. Brendan High School and won 12-0. This was followed by a game on Friday, April 10, against Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and they left with a Jaguar victory of 8-7.Â
Then, they ended the tournament with two games on Saturday, April 11. The first one was against West Broward High School, and they won 8-0. Then, they had their last game against South Broward High School and won 14-7.Â
They currently stand with a record of 13-6 and compete in three games this week. The first one is at Coral Springs Charter High School on Tuesday, April 14, @6 pm. Then, on Thursday, April 16, @6:30 pm, they face off against South Plantation High School at home. Finally, they end their week under the Friday night lights on April 17, @5:30 pm at home against Forest Hill High School.
Claws in the court: Jaguar’s tennis
The Jaguars’ tennis team had two matches scheduled last week, which were cancelled.
This week, they are scheduled to compete in the district tournament starting on Monday, April 13.
Jaguars’ varsity baseball swinging through the season
Last week, the Jaguars baseball team went 1-1 as they had three games scheduled. First, they were at home against Coral Springs Charter High School on Monday, April 6, and left with a Jaguar victory of 9-7. Then, they ended their week against JC Bermudez Doral High School on Tuesday, April 7, with a loss of 1-5. Their game on Thursday, March 9, at home against Cooper City High School was cancelled due to weather conditions.
The Jaguars currently hold a record of 11-13 and are roaring into districts this week. They host their first game at home against McArthur High School on Tuesday, April 14, @7 pm.
Jaguars’ JV baseball ready to roar
Last week, the Jaguars’ JV baseball team concluded their season, and they went 0-1-1 as they competed in a doubleheader against JC Bermudez Doral High School on Saturday, April 11. They lost the first game 3-5 and tied the second game 3-3.
The JV Jaguars baseball team has ended their season with a final record of 5-7-2.
Jaguars track sprinting into the season
Last week, the Jaguars track team competed in a meet under the Friday night lights on April 10.Â
This week, the Jaguars do not have any meets scheduled.Â
Lady Jags flag football takes the field
The Lady Jags flag football team went 0-3 last week as they competed in three games. The first one was at home against True North Classical Academy on Wednesday, April 8, and they lost 6-38. Then, they were away as they faced off against Nova High School on Thursday, April 9, and lost 13-34. They ended their week under the Friday night lights at Cypress Bay High School on April 10, with a loss of 0-32.Â
They currently stand with a record of 0-12 and have two away games scheduled for this week. The first one is against Monarch High School on Tuesday, April 14, @4:30 pm. Then, they have their final regular game of the season against Flanagan High School on Wednesday, April 15, @5:45 pm.
Jaguars boys’ volleyball: claws in the net
Last week, the Jaguars boys’ volleyball team competed in two games and went 0-2. The first one was at Cardinal Gibbons High School on Wednesday, April 8, and they lost 1-3. Then, they ended their week at home against Chaminade Madonna High School on Thursday, April 9, with a loss of 1-3.
They currently hold a record of 9-5, and this week they are scheduled to compete in three games. The first one is at home against Somerset Academy High School on Tuesday, April 14, @4:30 pm. Then, they are at Plantation High School on Wednesday, April 15, @4:30 pm. They end their regular season at Western High School on Thursday, April 16, @4:30 pm.Â
Jaguars beach volleyball in the sand
The Jaguars’ beach volleyball team competed in one away game last week against Western High School on Tuesday, April 9.Â
​This week, they have one game scheduled at Pompano Beach on Wednesday, April 15 @3:30 pm.Â
