Many things are better with a soundtrack, including senior year. With events like pep rallies, prom, and senior sunrise, music can elevate these once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
There are various moods music can bring to a senior. A sad tune may be used to reminisce on memories throughout their past four years of high school, or even an upbeat song to remember the joys along the way.
The hundreds of music genres and millions of songs make it difficult to narrow down a playlist. Here are some recommendations from Pembroke Pines Charter High School seniors.
“[She liked the] ‘Good Old Days’ by Macklemore and Kesha. [She feels like] This song fits senior year because it’s all about realizing that the moments you’re living right now will eventually become memories you miss.” – Natalia Sarria
“[He likes] ‘Quimbara’ by Celia Cruz and Johnny Pacheco. I chose to add this song to my senior year playlist because it was the song that brought me an entire new friend group from the Latin Dance team.” – Angelo Lesmes
“I would put the song ‘Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right’ by Bob Dylan [in my senior playlist]. I think that because everyone will be parting ways soon, we get caught up in so much fear. Fear that we will never see people again, lose contact, or that close bonds will die away. The song reminds us not to get caught up in [their fears], because no matter what happens, it will be all right.” – Sjhnaaz Buth
“‘BAILE INoLVIDABLE’ by Bad Bunny. The ice protest this year was one to remember, and this song reminds me of that.” – Gabriel Calderon
“I would add ‘Mr. Brightside’ by The Killers [to a senior playlist]. My friends and I always play that song when we’re together and out doing fun activities, so every time I hear it, it reminds me of them and how these will all be core memories in a few months.” – Catalina Castro
