Art is a form of expression with great versatility; an artist can showcase their talents through media like painting and photography. Different media allow artists to convey emotions, feelings, experiences, and more. At PPCHS, aspiring artists have in-class opportunities to make art of all forms, and Charter’s annual Art Show brings their heartfelt creations to light.

The 26th annual Art Show was held in the hallways and classrooms of the M building on the evening of March 4. Each artwork displayed was student-produced, stemming from various art courses, such as Ceramics, Digital Art, AP Art, Photography, etc.

For more than half of the school year, students have worked for countless hours on their pieces, preparing for the showcase. At the show, artists’ friends and family immerse themselves in the exhibit, with displays of numerous art media during the walkthrough. Sketches, paintings, photos, and digital art are hung from the walls, each telling its own story.

“It was my first time going to the Art Show, and I got to see art by my sister and my friends. It was pretty cool to see the work they’re so passionate about, and I was just happy to support them,” says sophomore Kayleen Khiyani, who attended the Art Show in support of her sister, junior Elina Khiyani.

Junior Michaelangela Frazzetta-Soto drew a captivating piece that was nearly identical to the reference photo on the right. Guests stopped by this drawing in awe. The artist’s great attention to detail left people staring at certain pieces, curiosity in their intrigued eyes.

Quick snacks were available for visitors to enjoy along with music. Seniors Carson Modlics, Tyronn Johnson, and Sebastian Martinez, and sophomore Luany Mera captured the feeling of walking through an art gallery very well. While people enjoyed the art surrounding them, smooth jazz flowed through their ears.

Additionally, art classrooms were open, where students displayed their ceramic and pottery creations. Ceramics/Pottery instructor, Holly Negron, worked with students all year, teaching them the ropes of making art with clay.

PPCHS’s annual Art Show is important to aspiring artists, as it provides them with an opportunity to showcase their work throughout the school year. Hopes are high that the Art Show continues for many years to come, bringing happiness to the PPCHS community and highlighting the vibrant work of student artists.
