A wave of glimmer slowly grows brighter as the view of the stage becomes clearer. Four musicians sit at the center of the platform that is filled with candles surrounding them from every corner. The company, Candlelight, presented Fort Lauderdale with a magical opportunity to experience Han Zimmer’s full orchestral pieces through four instruments and four musicians.
The music composer who produced incredible soundtracks for Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Dune, The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc., is the famous Hans Zimmer. He can execute compelling pieces that give films he works on more emotion. Thus, fans adore his music because of how much of an impact it has had in their favorite movies.
The films he has worked on have grown so popular that theaters have welcomed him to perform his music live in front of audiences who want to hear the magic in person. Zimmer’s composition isn’t solely on the verbal sounds; its purpose is to symbolize the emotional landscape of the scene being played. His orchestras and concerts have become such a success, that theaters and orchestras are still running his shows.
“As I watched Interstellar, I felt all the sentiment and buildup alongside the characters, not just from their acting but from the music representing their feelings in a way that can’t be said into words,” expresses sophomore Sophia Mourad.

Candlelight was born to allow an audience to experience the emotion that a Hans Zimmer orchestra can evoke, set with a stunning atmosphere. Fort Lauderdale was given this rare chance to showcase how impressive Zimmer’s works are. The experience is monumental; the musicians’ skills were on full display, and every audience member was glued to the performance.
The concert was located inside a church, decorated with a beautiful stained-glass window that stood above the musicians. It reflected the candles’ light as they covered the entire platform and lay beside the audience’s chairs, their flames dancing in the dark atmosphere, adding to the already emotional and compelling atmosphere.
“I really love the way his music evokes emotions in those who listen to it,” says sophomore Alyssa Gomez. “All his music is very emotionally charged, and it can really change the mood it’s placed into.”
The setlist comprised some of Zimmer’s greatest achievements, like “Cornfield Chase” from Interstellar, “Time” from Inception, and “Zooster’s Breakout” from Madagascar, and more.
It was a magnificent performance that really showed the exact emotions Zimmer originally captured. Being able to be a part of Zimmer’s musical world is an opportunity that will never be taken for granted.
