With every school year, a class of students graduates from high school and moves on to a new chapter in their lives.
After attending school for over 10 years, the day that finalizes this moment of life is fast approaching. It is an emotional process that these seniors eventually overcome, but how do these thoughts differ for them?
“People talk about college, but they don’t talk about how stressful and emotional getting closer to graduation actually is.” – Amina Stark
“The realization is hitting me that these people that I’ve seen since elementary school, I’m not going to see every day anymore. So it’s gonna feel weird, but also sad.” – Alexandra Erazo
“Honestly, it still doesn’t feel real. I’m excited, but it feels like graduation is somewhere in the future.” – Sjahnaz Buth
“Graduation started to feel real right after midterms because I realized I would never have to have another midterm again.” – Xavier Reid-Morgan
“I want to leave. I’m so ready, but I think I’ll miss [High school], in a good way.” – Gabriel Castro
“Graduation really, really started settling in senior spirit week because we put together all of our outfits and stuff, so it was a lot to take in.” – Heavyn Elizee
“Now that graduation is nearby, I’ve experienced a little bit of senioritis, just a little lazy, but I’m ready for what comes next.” – Jaden Lewis
As the year ends, seniors are found embracing one another, spending time together, and cherishing the memories with each other.
The final step for these students is an event filled with excitement, imagination, and even sadness. New paths will emerge from graduating, and wonder will enable them to reach their lifelong goals.
