Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week thirty-four of The Claw spring sports edition. Last week was an eventful one, as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report.
Dominating the waters: Lady Jags water polo
Last week, the Lady Jags’ water polo team went 1-1 as they competed in the regional quarterfinals against South Broward High School on Tuesday, April 14, and won 26-7. Then, they faced off against Cooper City High School in the regional semifinals on Wednesday, April 15, and lost 14-21.
They hold a final record of 15-5 and have officially concluded their season.
Making a splash: Jag Boys water polo
Last week, the Jag Boys water polo team went 0-1 as they competed in the regional quarterfinals against Northeast High School on Tuesday, April 14, and lost 13-17.
They have concluded their season and ended with a final record of 6-10.
Claws out: Lady Jags softball
Last week, the Lady Jags varsity softball team went 2-1 as they competed in three games. First, they faced off against Coral Springs Charter High School on Tuesday, April 14, and lost 1-2. Then, on Thursday, April 16, they faced off against South Plantation High School and left with a Jaguar victory of 7-1. They ended their week with a 15-0 win under the Friday night lights against Forest Hill High School on April 17.
They currently stand with a record of 15-7, and this week they compete in a home game against Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Monday, April 20, @6 pm.
Claws in the court: Jaguar’s tennis
The Jaguars’ tennis team competed in districts last week and were runner-ups.
This week, they are scheduled to compete in regionals, which starts on Tuesday, April 20, @3:30 pm against Belen Jesuit High School.
Jaguars’ varsity baseball swinging through the season
Last week, the Jaguars baseball team went 1-1 as they competed in the district tournament. On Tuesday, April 14, they faced off against McArthur High School in the semifinals and won 6-5 in a walk off Jaguar victory. This advanced them to the finals against Archbishop McCarthy on Wednesday, April 15, and they lost 4-6.
The Jaguars currently hold a record of 12-14 and are roaring into regionals this week, which starts on Thursday, April 23.
Jaguars track sprinting into the season
Last week, the Jaguars track team did not compete in any meets.
This week, the Jaguars compete in districts at Everglades High School on Tuesday, April 21.
Lady Jags flag football takes the field
The Lady Jags flag football team went 0-2 last week as they competed in two away games. The first game was against Monarch High School on Tuesday, April 14, and they lost 7-12. Then, they faced off against Flanagan High School on Wednesday, April 15, and lost 12-13.
They currently stand with a record of 0-14, and they are away as they roar into districts this week, which is against Boyd Anderson High School on Monday, April 20, @7 pm.
Jaguars boys’ volleyball: claws in the net
Last week, the Jaguars boys’ volleyball team competed in three games and went 2-1. First, they faced off against Somerset Academy High School on Tuesday, April 14, and left with a Jaguar victory of 3-0. Then, on Wednesday, April 15, they faced off against Plantation High School and won 3-0. They ended their week on Thursday, April 16, as they faced off against Western High School and lost 0-3.
They currently hold a record of 11-6 and are scheduled to compete in the district tournament this week, starting on Wednesday, April 22, for which the opponents have not been set yet.
Jaguars beach volleyball in the sand
The Jaguars’ beach volleyball team competed in one away game against Pompano Beach High School and had a sweep as they won all games.
This week, they compete in districts, and their first game is against North Broward Prep on Monday, April 20, @3:30 pm.
