Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week thirty-five of The Claw spring sports edition. Last week was an eventful one, as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report.
Claws out: Lady Jags softball
Last week, the Lady Jags varsity softball team went 1-1 as they competed in two games. First, they faced off against Marjory Stoneman Douglas on Monday, April 20, and won 11-6. Then, they competed in the BCAA Big 8 tournament against Cardinal Gibbons and got eliminated after a loss of 4-20.
They currently stand with a record of 16-8, and this week they are scheduled to compete in districts. The first game takes place against Varella at home on Tuesday, April 28, @6:30 pm.
Claws in the court: Jaguar’s tennis
The Jaguars’ tennis team competed in regionals last week and lost.
They have officially concluded their season and do not have any more matches scheduled.
Jaguars’ varsity baseball swinging through the season
Last week, the Jaguars baseball team went 1-0 as they competed in the regional quarter finals against South Fork at home on Friday, April 24, and won 8-1.
The Jaguars currently hold a record of 13-14 and continue to roar through districts this week as they face off against Archbishop McCarthy at home in a series of three games. The first one takes place on Friday, May 1, @7 pm; the second and third are both on Saturday, May 2, @9:30 am and @12:30 pm.
Jaguars track sprinting into the season
Last week, the Jaguars track team competed in districts at Everglades High School on Tuesday, April 21.
This week, the Jaguars compete in regionals on Saturday, May 2 at Ansin Sports Complex.
Lady Jags flag football takes the field
The Lady Jags flag football team went 0-1 as they competed in districts on Monday, April 20, and lost 12-45.
They officially stand with a record of 0-15, as they have no more games and have concluded their season.
Jaguars boys’ volleyball: claws in the net
Last week, the Jaguars boys’ volleyball team competed in the district tournament and went 2-0 as they were the champions. On Wednesday, April 22, they faced off against Miramar and won 3-0, which advanced them to the finals. The finals took place on Friday, April 24, against McArthur, and they left with a Jaguar victory of 3-0.
They currently hold a record of 13-6 and are scheduled to compete in the regional tournament this week, starting on Thursday, April 30, @7pm, at home against Mater Academy Charter.
Jaguars beach volleyball in the sand
The Jaguars’ beach volleyball team competed in districts against North Broward Prep on Monday, April 20, and got eliminated in the first round.
The Jaguars do not have any more games scheduled as their season has concluded.
