As seniors prepare to walk the stage with their friends and classmates, they become closer to college orientation rather than their freshman year. Seniors all around the world are experiencing this exact bittersweet feeling as they are walking into a new chapter of their lives. Every senior has a different story, and seniors at PPCHS describe their high school experience at Pines Charter in only three words.
“Memorable, stressful, transformative. I say these words because honestly, it was a hard four years, but it has helped me grow as a person, and I wouldn’t change anything.” – Giada Porven, senior
“Eye-opening, transformative, and memorable. Starting my sophomore year, I really made a point to learn about myself because I felt like I spent so much time on other people. I made such amazing connections over my high school years, and even though not everyone stuck around, I don’t regret anything from my four years here.” – Gabriana Bravo, senior
“Growth, improvement, and excitement. These words describe my high school experience perfectly because of how much I have learned and experienced during my time at Pines Charter.” – Madisen Palmer, senior
“Grit, kinship, and evolution. Running cross country and track for three years taught me real grit, because I learned to keep going even when my legs were tired, and I wanted to quit. I wasn’t alone, though; my teammates and friends became like a second kinship to me, and we always had each other’s backs through the highs and lows. Most importantly, I experienced a lot of evolution by learning from my mistakes and failures, which helped me turn into a much stronger and more confident person than I was when I first started high school.” – Kameron James, senior
“Insightful, emotional, and transforming. I learned while at high school the career I wanted to [pursue] through the teachers that shaped my interests, I also watched my friends grow up by my side and get close to each other, to now finally parting our ways. I grew as a person over time during high school and will always appreciate the bonds I formed so much more.” – Enzo Rabines, senior
“Searching, struggling, becoming. I chose these three words to describe my high school experience because I was trying to figure out who I was, where I fit, and what mattered to me. Academics, friendships, and my sense of identity all felt unstable at times, and I had to push through that uncertainty. By the end, I grew into myself, finding direction in school and building deeper, more meaningful relationships that felt like family.” – Harmony Destine, senior
While each senior is different, it’s important to acknowledge the individual transformation of one another. Each senior spent four years growing together, and now must learn to thrive on their own in college. What story will they write next?
