December’s Spotify Wrapped isn’t just a recap. It’s an annual tradition that helps students reflect on the year from a musical perspective. Students at Pembroke Pines Charter High School have been anticipating its release for months. Now that it’s out, here are their thoughts on their musical wrap-up for 2025.
“My number one artist was Bad Bunny, which I expected because I listened to his new album a lot this year. One song in my Spotify Wrapped that surprised me was ‘muñekita’ by Kali Uchis, but I expected the rest of my Wrapped to be mostly Bad Bunny and similar music.” –Noah Mercado, sophomore
“Romeo Santos ranked fifth on my list, even though I’ve never listened to him before. I find it interesting to see the music I play the most, even though some parts feel inaccurate. The songs I listen to don’t reflect my personality since most of the lyrics are hostile or aggressive.” –Martin Narváez, junio
“I was pleased to see that my top artist was Playboi Carti. I was totally expecting that because I listen to him all the time. Kendrick Lamar also showed up on my Wrapped, which surprised me because I rarely listen to him. I think [my music taste is] the opposite of how my personality is.” –Jaysleen Richards, sophomore
“When I first saw that the Spotify Wrapped came out, I was surprised because I got the same top artist as I did last year, which was Tyler, the Creator. Seeing a summary of the music I’ve listened to the whole year made me realize that everything in life is documented nowadays.” –Seff Cotterell, sophomore
“I was upset and surprised when I first saw my Wrapped because I wanted it to be different artists and songs. This is my third year in a row where I’ve had Playboi Carti as my top artist, and honestly, I wish it could’ve been someone else because now it just feels repetitive. I don’t think Spotify accurately describes me as a person since I consider myself a rock and country type of guy, yet my top genre turned out to be rap.” –Aaron Sorensen, sophomore
“My Spotify Wrapped had many different genres. Drake was my top artist and ‘Solo Steppin’ Concrete Boy’ was my top song, which is one of my favorite songs.” –Ryan Mackie, sophomore
