CHAT Senior Send-off!

Adam Abougendia

    Sports editor, Adam Abougendia, has been a part of CHAT newspaper for all four years and will continue to pursue journalism. Adam talks about how he’s “always been good at writing and has always found interest in sports.” Especially as a soccer player, Abougendia found a further love for sports journalism in the midst of his editorial role. Playing his part within the school’s newspaper and throughout all his highschool years,  Adam has worked with so many different people. He expresses that his favorite memory has to be “being a part of four different staffs and getting to interact with different types of people who all have their own journey.”

   CHAT newspaper has impacted and molded Adam in many different ways. He voices that “it definitely broke [him] out of his shell.” Although he was always a social person, he was able to step out of his comfort zone and build his writing skills. Ready to finish off his senior year, Adam Abougendia has been able to learn, grow, and teach during his time within the CHAT and has left his mark as a writer and as a student.

 

Mariana Ardila

    Fresh into newspaper, Mariana Ardila has had a huge impact and has put in so much effort towards the CHAT for her first yet, last year. As a social media editor, she has created several memories. Reminiscing, Mariana Ardila, reveals that “The highlight of [her] senior year and as social media editor for the CHAT, had to be hitting 2000 followers on TikTok and interviewing students around campus.” Being able to communicate more with many different people, Ardila, has realized that this is what she wants to do in the long run. “I want to pursue journalism in college”, she says, “it has paved the way for what I want to be and has expanded my personality.”

   “I’ve always loved writing.”, she says as she continues to grow and move forward in her journey with journalism and communication. Moving on to the next step, Mariana Ardila will take all that she’s learned, not just from the CHAT, but from her high school years overall.

 

Lucas Giron

    He “took a chance” walking into the newspaper classroom. Ever since, Newspaper has impacted Lucas Giron immensely. As the CHAT’s social media editor, Lucas has made so many new friends and memories. “My favorite memories have to be the pizza and donut parties we had.”, Giron says light heartedly. Along with these exciting moments, most importantly, the newspaper has taught him skill. “Being a part of the CHAT, it’s taught me to open up and interact with people.” When it comes to communications and networking this class has prepared Lucas in many ways, shapes, and forms. 

    Especially going into his freshman year of college, these memories, lessons, and interactions have prepared him to be successful and the best version of himself. Lucas Giron advises to “not be afraid and put yourself out there.”
