“One Dream, One Love.” With Raising Cane’s rise in popularity, their company motto has become a frequent saying at Pembroke Pines Charter High School (PPCHS). Over the past few years, the chain restaurant has gone viral for its signature food menu, and deservingly so.
Canes is known most famously for its fried chicken, with variations of it making up the bulk of the menu. The most popular option that has taken TikTok by storm is the Box Combo, which comes with the following: Three fried chicken tenders, an order of fries, a cup of their signature Cane’s sauce, and a cup of coleslaw.
Like the name suggests, this combo is usually seen in a styrofoam to-go box, decorated with the Raising Cane’s logo. The restaurant’s surge in popularity has just recently hit the Pembroke Pines-Miramar area, with a location opening up 10 minutes from PPCHS.
“Although I’ve never been to Raising Cane’s myself, I have heard about it from other people and seen several posts about it on social media,” states Pembroke Pines Charter junior Juan Bustamante. “I do plan on eventually trying it myself to see if it lives up to [the hype].”
When ordering from this location, the first thing we noticed was that the drive-thru was very reminiscent of Chick-fil-A, with workers standing outside in vests to take orders. We both got the same item, the Box Combo, and it was in our laps in less than 3 minutes.
When eating the famous combo, the chicken and fries were very fresh and hot, in fact it was so hot it almost burned both of our mouths. The food was very well seasoned, not to mention also crunchy, and the canes sauce was incredibly good.
Food isn’t the only thing Raising Cane’s is good for, however. It has offered PPCHS students an opportunity to take on new responsibilities and earn their very own flow of income. For example, senior Alyssa Clarke has recently earned herself a job at Canes, working after school and on weekends.
Clarke shares, “I really enjoy working at Canes. The environment is fast-paced but fun, and the team culture is honestly one of the best parts.” She continues, “Everyone communicates well, helps each other out, and keeps the energy positive, even during rush hour.”
Canes has done a wonderful job of creating an inclusive space for anyone to work there. From a customer’s perspective, it is clear that whether you’re introverted or extroverted, the Canes’ community is a welcoming atmosphere to all.
Clarke proves this point by sharing, “Both the crew and the customers make my job so fun! I just enjoy being able to make someone’s day with fast, friendly service.” However, her contentment doesn’t stop there. “But what I mostly enjoy are the times when the restaurant gets a little slow and we all [coworkers] start dancing to the music. Canes definitely has the best playlist!”
With their popularity continuing to grow, their success as a business is almost guaranteed to rise. So, whether you are feeling hungry for a snack or are interested in getting a job, Raising Cane’s may be the right spot for you.
