As the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) spirit week, or better known as HOSA week, reached its fourth day, every member was invited to come to school wearing their favorite jersey.
If you’re not aware, HOSA week is a yearly event where members of HOSA dress up in different attires to bring awareness to their club and promote healthcare around the campus.
With this year’s theme being Champions of Change, students came together with jerseys ranging from Inter-Miami to Al Nassar. Junior Alexa Hernandez chose to support her country she calls home by wearing a bright red, white and blue USA soccer jersey.
“I was born here in the U.S. and occasionally watch soccer,” states Hernandez. “This is actually my little brother’s and I borrowed it from him for this dress down.”
Along with Hernandez sophomore Zhaydyn Gonzalez rocked the United States jersey because it symbolized the opportunity the US gave him.
“My parents immigrated from Cuba,” stated Gonzalez. “They gave me this opportunity, and I will do everything in my power to use the privilege of citizenship to become a great doctor.”
Others dedicated to go a more local route, with Sophomore Austen Chen wearing an Inter Miami jersey.
“I wanted to represent both the South Florida HOSA and the Inter Miami soccer team,” stated Chen. “I did this by wearing my Messi jersey.”
