As the Lady Jags varsity volleyball team concludes their season, they took a moment to honor their seniors at their last home game of the season, in other words senior night. This took place on Thursday, October 9, as they faced off against Nova High School which ended in a Jaguar victory of 3-0.
Before the game the Lady Jags graduating seniors walked onto the court for their senior night ceremony. A senior night ceremony is when the graduating seniors walk across the court with their families before their last home game of the season. At the end of their walk across the court they approach the underclassmen on varsity who give them flowers and gifts. This is usually a very honorable moment to many as it recognizes the graduating seniors and their new chapter in life as they are about to graduate.
Senior, Abigail Reynolds explains, “Walking out at senior night was such a surreal moment. As a freshman I watched all the seniors walk out and knowing that was me in that moment, seeing everyone I loved there to support me, and seeing my friends felt super emotional and I’m happy that I got to experience it.”
For many of the players walking out brought a variety of emotions. With tears falling from the athletes eyes as they realize this is their last home game as a Lady Jag. Yet this is also followed along with smiles that would brighten the room as they realize that they are going into real life soon. Senior night is always a very heartfelt and touching moment for teammates, friends, and family.
Captain Sophia Peterseil comments, “It was bittersweet knowing that was my last time wearing that uniform, but I couldn’t help but feel grateful for every moment that led me there.”
With big dreams and bright futures ahead of them all, the Lady Jags will continue to share their legacy not only on the court, but into the real world as well.
