With the world constantly evolving socially, many people’s views and morals have changed. Even with so much change, some tend to become blind or even ignorant in the way they express themselves, one example being: the infamous Kanye West. The man that can never keep his opinions to himself and creates overly exaggerated drama that puts a bitter taste in everyone’s mouth.  Especially now, with his harsh comments about the Jewish community.    

   Kanye West has had his notorious reputation established for a long time, making a breakthrough in the early 2000s and eventually becoming one of the top sellers in rap and the music industry as a whole. Throughout his career, Kanye has always had a confident head and an even stronger tongue, amplifying topics that bothered him as well as anything and everything that came to his mind. This obnoxious behavior of his always led him down a rabbit hole of controversy and kept him in the lines of relevancy. With constant bashing from his ignorant words, but continuous praise to his music, Kanye remained the talk of the town. 

   Now in 2022, with talks of his recent tweets, this might be the end of Kanye, which would give him a taste of his own medicine.  During an interview on “Revolt’s TV”, “Drink Champs,” Kanye repeatedly blamed the “Jewish media” for many of the rap community’s wrongdoings. He claims that, “The Jewish community, especially in the music industry has taken us and has continued to milk us til we die.” Other reckless remarks led him to lose business deals on top of business deals, with his most popular brand deal, Yeezys, taking the hit for his actions. 

   Even so, his loyal fanbase sticks by him, claiming that he did no wrong, even going as far as pointing out the first amendment, which promises freedom of speech. With that, I believe even though one has the freedom to speak their mind, the first amendment doesn’t expel freedom from consequence; and with this belief, the words Kanye has said do deserve consequences. He needs to become conscious of his words. He can not be given leeway due to his “high status” and big profile. He should understand how such a big time celebrity, like himself, should be wise with his words, as he influences millions. 

   Many people hear Kanye’s name through the news of his constant controversies, from him claiming to run for presidency in 2020, to his past marriage with Kim Kardashian, to now his views on the Jewish community, and karma has been slowly creeping up on him. He has affected many people, not only from the Jewish community but his loyal fans that believe every word that sprawls out his mouth.  With such strong claims coming from his recent tweet that got deleted as fast as it went up, Kanye wrote, “I’m a bit sleepy but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE the funny thing is I actually can’t be antisemitic because black people are actually Jew, also you guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda,”; his loyal fans are starting to believe the outrageous words this man says.

   We shouldn’t let Kanye West become more entitled than he already is. He is affecting a group of people who never did him harm, some of which even supported him. At the end of the day, Kanye’s comments were unnecessary and harmful to other minorities, and he shouldn’t get away with such extreme allegations.
