This holiday season at PPCHS, clubs filled the room with festive cheer and community spirit as various students came together to celebrate through creative and meaningful activities. From book exchanges to card-making, these events showcased students’ ability to spread joy during the most wonderful time of the year.
National English Honor Society (NEHS) Book Exchange: 12/10/24
Putting a twist on white elephant, NEHS hosted their annual book exchange in which members brought in new or used books that other members got to pick from. While hot cocoa and cookies were passed around, each member had 30 seconds to choose a wrapped book from the pile under the Christmas tree and say the synopsis of the book they chose. After everyone went, students were then able to trade their book with someone else and talk about their new read. Whether you end up with a thriller, a cozy novel, or a self-help gem, the best part is the feeling of having a new book to read over the holidays.
First Priority’s Christmas Celebration: 12/11/24
The event, known as “The Mystery of Christmas,” aimed to help attendees discover the true meaning behind the holiday, the celebration of Jesus’s birthday. This year, the club saw record-breaking attendance of over 140 students, necessitating a move to the large drama room, to accommodate the growing crowd. The event featured a powerful message from a guest speaker hoping to inspire students to discover the mystery and wonder of this sacred celebration.
K-Pop United & Home Economics Holiday Card Making: 12/11/24
As soon as the setup was complete, people immediately dove in, eager to lend a hand and create heartfelt cards. The room was abuzz with the sound of Christmas music, the smell of freshly baked cookies, and the pure joy of coming together to make a positive impact. Junior Juliana Duperval, president of K-Pop United and Historian of Home Economics expresses, “The environment was definitely motivated. I loved seeing people so driven to help others and really appreciated the volunteers!” By the end of the meeting, over 200 cards had been completed which officially marked this event a huge success.
National Honor Society (NHS) Ornament Decorating: 12/12/24
The winter social was in full swing as National Honor Society members gathered to decorate holiday ornaments. With a variety of materials and creative designs, each member poured their heart into crafting a unique ornament. Once completed, the ornaments were donated to a local children’s hospital, spreading holiday cheer to those in need. This community-focused project embodied the spirit of the season and strengthened the group’s sense of camaraderie.
By hosting these club activities students were able to demonstrate the true spirit of the holidays; a time of giving, sharing, and coming together.
