The Claw: Week 29

Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week twenty-nine of The Claw spring sports edition. As winter sports begin to wrap up, our spring teams continue their seasons. Last week was an eventful one, as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report.

 

Jaguars basketball back for revenge

The Jaguars’ varsity basketball team competed in the state tournament last week and went 2-0. First, they faced off against Lecanto High School on Wednesday, March 11, and left with a Jaguar victory of 65-32. Then, they ended their season as they were crowned state champions, winning 52-48 against Fleming Island High School on Saturday, March 14.

The Jaguars have concluded their season with a final record of 22-6 and are ranked #1 in their region, 5A. They do not have any more games scheduled for this season. 

 

Dominating the waters: Lady Jags water polo

Last week, the Lady Jags water polo team competed in two games and went 1-1. The first was on Tuesday, March 10, at Cooper City High School, and they lost 15-17. Then, on Wednesday, March 11, they were at Boca Raton High School and left with a Jaguar victory of 17-4.

The Lady Jags currently hold a record of 10-3 and do not compete in any games this week since it is spring break. 

 

Making a splash: Jag Boys water polo

Last week, the Jag Boys water polo team competed in two games and went 1-1. The first game was on Tuesday, March 10, at Cooper City High School, and they left with a Jaguar victory of 14-7. Then, they were at Boca Raton High School on Wednesday, March 11, and lost 14-16. 

Currently, they hold a record of 2-8 and do not compete in any games this week since it is spring break. 

 

Claws out: Lady Jags softball

Last week, the Lady Jags softball team went 2-0 as they competed in two games. First, they were at Pompano Beach High School on Tuesday, March 10, and won 14-0. Then, they ended their week against Satellite Beach High School at home under the Friday night lights on March 13 and won 5-2. 

They currently stand with a record of 7-2 and do not have any games scheduled for this week since it is spring break. 

 

Chasing Excellence: Lady Jags JV softball

Last week, the Lady Jags JV softball team faced off against Satellite Beach High School under the Friday night lights on March 13 and lost by one run. 

They currently stand with a record of 0-5 and compete in one game this week against Cardinal Gibbons High School. 

 

Claws in the court: Jaguars tennis

The Jaguars’ tennis team competed in one match last week on Monday, March 9, at home against Cypress Bay High School and lost.

This week, they do not compete in any matches since it is spring break. 

 

Jaguars varsity baseball swinging through the season

Last week, the Jaguars baseball team went 2-1 as they competed in three home games. The first game was against Barbara Goleman High School on Monday, March 9, and they left with a Jaguar victory of 4-3. Then, they faced off against Doral Academy High School on Tuesday, March 10, and won 9-1. Finally, they ended their week against Cardinal Gibbons High School on Thursday, March 12, and lost 2-9. 

The Jaguars currently hold a record of 6-7 and compete in the spring break tournament this week, which consists of four games. The first game takes place on Tuesday, March 17, @4pm against Lake Howell High School; this is followed by another game on Wednesday, March 18, @11 am against Lake Minneola High School. Then, they face off against Horizon High School on Thursday, March 19, @12:30 pm. Finally, they end the tournament against Deltona High School on Friday, March 20, @9:30 am. 

 

Jaguars JV baseball ready to roar

Last week, the Jaguars JV baseball team competed in one game at Flanagan High School on Saturday, March 14, and left with a Jaguar victory of 9-1. 

The JV Jaguars baseball team now stands with a record of 5-3 and does not compete in any games this week since it is spring break.

 

Jaguars track sprinting into the season

Last week, the Jaguars track team competed in the BCAA tournament. On Monday, March 9, they competed in the preliminary meet, followed by the finals under the Friday night lights on March 13. 

This week, the Jaguars do not compete in any meets since it is spring break. 

 

Lady Jags flag football takes the field

The Lady Jags flag football team competed in one game last week at Western High School and lost 6-47. 

They currently stand with a record of 0-6 and do not compete in any games this week. 

 

Jaguars boys volleyball: claws in the net

Last week, the Jaguars boys’ volleyball team competed in one game at Belen Jesuit on Tuesday, March 10, and lost 1-3. 

They currently hold a record of 3-2, and this week they compete in a tournament, in which they have five games scheduled. The first is against Coral Park High School on Friday, March 20, @9am. This is followed by another game against Immaculata-La Salle High School, the same day @11 am. Then, they end the day off against Miami High School @1pm.

The next day, Saturday, March 21, they face off against Homestead High School @1pm. Followed by their last game of the tournament against Cypress Bay High School @3pm. 

 

Jaguars beach volleyball in the sand

The Jaguars’ beach volleyball team did not compete in any games last week. 

They currently stand with a record of 0-3 and do not compete in any games this week since it is spring break.
