As the new season for the Lady Jags flag football team approaches, they are enthusiastic as to what their upcoming season will look like.
With new players on the field and even a brand-new quarterback following their graduated one, Ava Rivera, this year is being taken as an opportunity to build the team from scratch.

With the team’s motive standing on growth and improvement rather than perfection, this new season is all about developing skills and building on their accomplishments.
Rather than focusing on performance, the players are committed to getting better each day through conditioning and practice.
The new season brings a new sense of purpose for the team. The purpose of improvement and development is for the team to create a foundation where their growth is acknowledged and further celebrated as a whole.
Freshman Madisyn Covington, a first-year Lady Jag, emphasizes how, “While this is my first season on the team, I believe that not only are we growing stronger as a team but also as individual athletes. I believe that the biggest factor for our team is to end the season better than how you started, not only as an athlete but also as a person.”
Change has not only been visible during the games, but it’s also been clear on the field along with the sidelines too. This is due to their coach Maria’s guidance.
In just her second year of coaching the Lady Jags girls flag football team, she has already helped to shape a new chapter for this team, as she will continue to do so during their upcoming season.
Coach Maria stresses the importance of standing with her athletes through every second of the season. Win or lose, she pushes them through their mistakes and helps them to become the best that they can be.
She knows that this upcoming season will be different than the last; she embraces that fact.
“I am aware of how different this season is. With a new star quarterback and new players being their first time on the field, I know that this team is reshaping itself. This season is about growth and learning to execute, not to be perfect,” notes Coach Maria.

Her message has set the tone from the very beginning. With fresh talent on the field and new athletes adjusting to their competition, the Lady Jags are focused on showing others what this new team has to offer.
The Lady Jags’ home opener takes place on Thursday, March 5, and they are ready to showcase their new team to their fans.
As the season kicks off, there is a strong sense of confidence throughout the team. The Lady Jags hope that this season will be filled with encouragement, growth, and surprises for the new players.
More than anything, they are determined to use this as an opportunity to make this season be defined by transformation and growth.
