Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week twenty of The Claw winter sports edition. Last week was an eventful one as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report.
Jags Soccer Protecting the Den
Last week, the Jags boys’ soccer team competed in two games and were 1-1. Both games were away as they faced off against Cardinal Gibbons High School on Wednesday, January 7 and left with a Jaguar victory of 1-2. This was followed by a loss at Cypress Bay High School on Friday, January 9, 0-1.
The Jags boys soccer team now stands with a record of 5-4-3, and they have two games this week. On Tuesday, January 13, @ 7 pm, they have an away game against South Plantation High School. This is followed by a home game against Pompano Beach High School on Thursday, January 15, @6 pm.
Lady Jags on the Prowl
Last week, the Lady Jags soccer team competed in two games and went 1-1. The first was at home against Somerset Academy High School on Tuesday, January 6, and they left with a Jaguar victory of 4-0. This was followed by an away game against Cardinal Gibbons High School on Wednesday, January 7, and the game ended with a loss of 5-0.
The Lady Jags soccer team now stands with a record of 8-2-2 and is ranked #32 in the state of Florida. This week, they are scheduled to compete in two games. The first is away against South Plantation High School on Tuesday, January 13 @5pm. This is followed by a home game against Pompano Beach High School on Thursday, January 15 @4pm.
Jaguars basketball back for revenge
The Jaguars varsity basketball team went undefeated last week as they competed in two tournament-based games in the Sunshine State Dade vs. Broward Challenge. On Friday, January 9, they faced off against Coral Gables High School and left with a Jaguar victory of 56-49. This was followed by another game on Saturday, January 10, against Doral Academy High School, and they won the game with a score of 62-30.
The Jaguars currently hold a record of 12-3 and are ranked #19 in the state of Florida. This week, they are scheduled to compete in two regular-season games and one tournament-based game. The first game is at home against Miramar High School on Monday, January 12 @7:30pm, followed by an away game against St. Thomas Aquinas High School on Wednesday, January 14 @7:30 pm. Finally, they compete in the Wally Keller Classic on Saturday, January 17 @3:20pm against The Villages Charter High School.
JV basketball roaring through the season
Last week, the Jaguars JV basketball team went 2-1 as they competed in one away game and two tournament-based games while being the home team at both. In their away game, they faced off against Coral Springs High School and left with a Jaguar victory of 63-56. Then they competed in two games on Saturday, January 10, at the Future Starz JV Shootout Tournament, which took place at Cardinal Gibbons High School. Their first game was against Mater Lakes Academy High School, and they won the game with a final score of 61-60. This was followed by another game against Western High School, and they lost the game with a score of 71-46.
They currently stand with a record of 6-4 and have two regular games scheduled this week and one tournament-based game. Their first game is at home against Miramar High School on Monday, January 12, at 4:30 pm. This is followed by an away game against St. Thomas Aquinas High School on Wednesday, January 14 @4:30pm. Then, they compete in the Crossover MLK Classic tournament at Highlands Christian High School on Saturday, January 17 @1:30pm against Rivera Prep High School.
Shooting for success: Lady Jags Basketball
The Lady Jags basketball team went 0-3 this week as they competed in two away games and one home game. First, they were away against Mater Academy Charter High School on Monday, January 5, and left with a loss of 21-63. This was followed by another loss against McArthur High School at home on Tuesday, January 6, with a final score of 12-63. Their last game of the week was away against Coral Springs High School on Thursday, January 8, and the Jaguars lost the game with a score of 31-69.
Their current record stands at 2-7, and they have three games scheduled for this week. The first game is at home against Miramar High School on Monday, January 12, @6pm. They then have an away game against South Broward High School on Tuesday, January 13, @6pm. Finally, they have another away game against St. Thomas Aquinas High School on Wednesday, January 14, @6pm.
