JV Jags Basketball: Roaring into the season

The feeling of one’s muscles aching is not usually a pleasant one, but to the Pembroke Pines Charter High School JV Basketball team, it is a sign of accomplishment and day’s work from practice. After a long and tough offseason of work and conditioning, the Jaguars JV Basketball team is back and roaring into the new season. After ending their last one with a final record of 9-4, they are back with high hopes and expectations.

To open up the Jaguar’s season, they are scheduled to compete in the Crossover Classic, which takes place at Sagemont Prep. These games do not go towards their record due to the fact that they count as “preseason” games. Their first home game takes place on Thursday, November 13 @4:30pm against Archbishop McCarthy High School. Then, on Friday, November 14, @6pm, they are the home team yet again as they face off against Rivera Prep High School.

Many of the JV Jaguars enter with high hopes for the season, especially Sophomores, as this is their last season on JV. Sophomore Joaquin Leon expresses his thoughts and feelings on the upcoming season.

“It feels good to be back as we went 14-1 in the preseason, and going into the season, we are all excited as it is all of my teammates from last season’s last year playing on JV.”

Additionally, Sophomore Maison Gordon explains his expectations for this season as he expects “to go undefeated, and I am excited to be back on the court with my teammates.”

The Jaguars basketball program holds a history of developing players and preparing them for the next level, as well as fostering a family mentality for the team.

Sophomore Jayden Coote adds on to this thought as he explains that “the culture for basketball in this PPCHS program is like no other. My teammates and coaches encourage me to strive to be better on and off the court.”

The JV Jaguars basketball team officially roars into their regular season on Wednesday, November 19, at 4:30 pm at their home opener against Chaminade Madonna High School. With high hopes and expectations, the blood, sweat, and tears from the Jaguars over the offseason are something that will not be forgotten and is expected to be shown on the court this season.
