The Claw: Week 17

Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week seventeen of The Claw winter sports edition. Last week was an eventful one as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report. 

 

Jags Soccer Protecting the Den

Last week, the Jags boys’ soccer team played three games and were 0-3. The first game was away at Coral Glades High School on Monday, December 1, and they lost 2-3. Then, they had two home games, the first was against Western High School on Wednesday, December 3. The game ended in a tie with the score 1-1. This was followed by another game against Monarch High School on Thursday, December 4, and the Jags left with another loss of 0-3. 

The Jags boys soccer team now stands with a record of 2-3-2, and they have two games this week. On Monday, December 8, @ 6pm, they have a home game against Chaminade Madonna College Prep High School. This is followed by an away game against South Broward High School on Wednesday, December 10 @5 pm. 

 

Lady Jags on the Prowl

Last week, the Lady Jags soccer team went undefeated and went 3-0. They had four games scheduled, yet their game against Monarch High School on Thursday, December 4, had been cancelled. On Monday, December 1, they were away as they faced off against Coral Glades High School and left with a Jaguar victory of 4-0. This was followed by another away game against Lourdes Academy High School on Tuesday, December 2, and they left with another win of 3-2. Then, they had a home game against Western High School on Wednesday, December 3, and left with a win and a final score of 5-0.

The Lady Jags soccer team now stands with a record of 5-1-1. This week, they compete in one game against Chaminade Madonna College Prep High School on Monday, December 8, @4pm at home. 

 

Jaguars basketball back for revenge

The Jaguars varsity basketball team competed in two games last week and went 1-1. They faced off against Coral Glades High School in an away game on Wednesday, December 3, and left with a Jaguar victory of 77-65. Then, on Saturday, December 6, they were the home team as they faced off against Saint Andrews High School in the Kreul Showcase Tournament and lost the game with the score being 64-52. 

The Jaguars currently hold a record of 2-1, and this week they are scheduled to compete in two games. The first game is at home against Blanche Ely High School on Tuesday, December 9 @7:30pm, and the second game is away as they face off against Cypress Bay High School on Thursday, December 11 @7:30pm. 

 

JV basketball roaring through the season

Last week, the Jaguars JV basketball team went 0-1 as they competed in an away game against Coral Glades High School on Wednesday, December 3 and lost with a final score of 58-60.

They currently stand with a record of 1-1 and have four games scheduled for this week. The first game is at home against Blanche Ely High School on Tuesday, December 9 @4:30 pm, followed by the second game away at Cypress Bay High School on Thursday, December 11 @4:30 pm. Following these two games, the Jaguars are competing in the Winter Crossover Classic Tournament on Friday, December 12 and on Saturday, December 13. However, the times and opponents are not yet set. 

 

Shooting for success: Lady Jags Basketball

The Lady Jags basketball team went 1-0 this week as they faced off in one away game against Coral Glades High School on Wednesday, December 3, and ended the game with a Jaguar victory of 44-31.

Their record currently stands at 2-0, and they have two games scheduled for this week. The first game is against Blanche Ely High School at home on Tuesday, December 9, @6pm. This is followed by an away game on Thursday, December 11, @6pm against Cypress Bay High School.
