The Claw: Week 18

Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week eighteen of The Claw winter sports edition. Last week was an eventful one as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report. 

 

Jags Soccer Protecting the Den

Last week, the Jags boys’ soccer team competed in two games and were 1-0-1. The first game was at home against Chaminade Madonna College Prep High School on Monday, December 8, and they left with a Jaguar victory of 4-0. This was followed by an away game against South Broward High School on Wednesday, December 10, which ended in a tie, 0-0. 

The Jags boys soccer team now stands with a record of 3-3-3, and they have two games this week. On Tuesday, December 16, @ 6 pm, they have an away game against Flanagan High School. This is followed by a home game against Doral Academy High School on Wednesday, December 17, at @7 pm. 

 

Lady Jags on the Prowl

Last week, the Lady Jags soccer team competed in a home game against Chaminade Madonna College Prep High School on Monday, December 8. The game ended early due to rain, and they left with a Jaguar victory of 8-0. 

The Lady Jags soccer team now stands with a record of 6-1-1 and is ranked #66 in the nation. This week, they are scheduled to compete in two games. The first is away against Flanagan High School on Tuesday, December 16, @4pm. This is followed by a home game against Doral Academy High School on Wednesday, December 17, @4pm.

 

Jaguars basketball back for revenge

The Jaguars varsity basketball team went undefeated last week as they competed in two games. They faced off against Blanche Ely High School on Tuesday, December 9, and left with a Jaguar victory of 76-23. Then, on Thursday, December 11, they competed in an away game against Cypress Bay High School and won the game with the score being 69-47. 

The Jaguars currently hold a record of 4-1. This week, they are scheduled to compete in three games. The first game is away against Northeast High School on Tuesday, December 16 @7:30pm. Then, they are scheduled to compete in the Kreul Tournament at the Coral Springs City Gym. The first game is on Friday, December 19 @5:30 pm against Corner Canyon High School. Then, their opponent for their game on Saturday, December 20, is based on the results of their first game.

 

JV basketball roaring through the season

Last week, the Jaguars JV basketball team went 2-2 as they competed in one home game, an away game, and two games in the Winter Crossover Classic Tournament, as they were the home team in both. They won their home game against Blanche Ely High School on Tuesday, December 9, with a final score of 58-32. Then, they faced off against Cypress Bay High School in an away game on Thursday, December 11, with a final score of 63-59.

Then, they competed in the Winter Crossover Classic Tournament on Friday, December 12, as they faced off against Columbus High School and lost the game with a final score of 72-70. This was followed by their second game of the tournament against Divine Savior Academy, and they lost the game with a score of 66-61.

They currently stand with a record of 3-3 and have two games scheduled this week. The first is away against Northeast High School on Tuesday, December 16, at 5:15 pm. The next is the Future Starz JV Shootout Tournament at Cardinal Gibbons High School on Saturday, December 20. Opponents are not yet set and will be announced at the tournament.

 

Shooting for success: Lady Jags Basketball

The Lady Jags basketball team went 0-2 this week as they faced off in a home game against Blanche Ely High School on Tuesday, December 9, and ended the game with a loss of 86-4. This was followed by an away game against Cypress Bay High School on Thursday, December 11, and they lost the game with a score of 29-63.

Their record currently stands at 2-2, and they have three games scheduled for this week. The first game is away against West Broward High School on Monday, December 15, @6pm, then, they have another away game against Northeast High School on Tuesday, December 16, @6pm. Finally, they have a home game against Deerfield Beach High School on Wednesday, December 17, @6pm.
