The Claw: Week 23

Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week twenty-three of The Claw winter sports edition. As winter sports begin to wrap up, some of our spring sports begin their season this week. Last week was an eventful one as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report. 

 

Jags Soccer Protecting the Den

Last week, the Jags boys’ soccer team had a bye week as they did not have any games scheduled. 

The Jags boys soccer team now stands with a record of 8-5-3, and is ranked #140 in Florida. They continue their postseason run as they compete in the Regional Quarterfinals this week. The game is at home against Coconut Creek High School on Friday, February 6 @6pm. 

 

Lady Jags on the Prowl

Last week, the Lady Jags soccer team had a bye week as they did not have any games scheduled.

The Lady Jags soccer team now stands with a record of 12-2-2 and is ranked #22 in the state of Florida and #35 in the nation. This week, they are hosting Regional Quarterfinals at home. The game is against Jensen Beach High School on Thursday, February 5 @7pm. 

 

Jaguars basketball back for revenge

The Jaguars varsity basketball team went 1-2 this week as they competed in a last-minute game that was scheduled and the BCAA Big 8 tournament at Fort Lauderdale High School. The game was against Riviera Prep High School at home on Tuesday, January 27, and they lost the game with a final score of 48-65. 

Then, they competed in the quarterfinal game of the BCAA Big 8 tournament on Thursday, January 29, against Stranahan High School. They left with a Jaguar victory of 54-50. This game advanced them to the semi-finals, which was against Miramar High School, and they lost the game with a final score of 50-56. 

The Jaguars currently hold a record of 15-6 and are ranked #17 in the state of Florida while being nationally ranked #76. Their next game will be in the district tournament, and the dates and opponents have not been announced yet.

 

Shooting for success: Lady Jags Basketball

The Lady Jags basketball team went 0-1 last week as they competed in one game, which was at home. On Tuesday, January 27, they faced off against Mater Lakes Academy High School and lost the game with a final score of 25-73. 

Their current record stands at 6-10, and their next game will be in the district tournament. The dates and opponents have not been announced yet.

 

Dominating the waters: Lady Jags Water Polo

The Lady Jags roar into the spring season as they have two away games this week. On Tuesday, February 3 @6:30 pm, they have their first game of the season at Cardinal Gibbons High School. Then, they face off against Fort Lauderdale High School on Thursday, February 5 @4:30 pm. 

 

Making a splash: Jag Boys Water Polo

The Jaguars water polo team splashes into the spring season this week, as they have two away games. Their first game of the season is at Cardinal Gibbons High School on Tuesday, February 3 @7:30 pm. Then, they face off against Fort Lauderdale High School on Thursday, February 5 @5:30 pm.
