Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week twenty-five of The Claw winter sports edition. As winter sports begin to wrap up, some of our spring sports begin their season this week. Last week was an eventful one as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report.Â
Jags soccer Protecting the Den
Last week, the Jags boys’ soccer team competed in the regional quarter semi-finals against Archbishop McCarthy High School on Thursday, February 12. They left with a Jaguar victory of 1-1, winning in penalty kicks 3-2.
The Jags boys soccer team now stands with a record of 10-5-3 and is ranked #90 in the state of Florida and #280 in the nation. They continue their postseason run as they compete in the regional finals this week. The game is at home against Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School on Tuesday, February 17 @7pm.Â

Lady Jags on the Prowl
Last week, the Lady Jags soccer team competed in the regional semi-finals at home against Archbishop McCarthy High School on Wednesday, February 11. They left with a Jaguar victory of 2-2, and they won 4-3 in penalty kicks.Â
The Lady Jags soccer team now stands with a record of 14-2-2 and is ranked #17 in the state of Florida and #19 in the nation. This week, they compete in regional semi-finals against Lourdes Academy High School on Tuesday, February 17 @7pm.Â

Jaguars basketball back for revenge
The Jaguars varsity basketball team went 1-0 this week as they competed in the regional quarter-finals. On Saturday, February 14, they competed against Jensen Beach High School and advanced to the regional semi-finals with a Jaguar victory of 69-33.Â
The Jaguars currently hold a record of 18-6 and are ranked #1 in their region, 5A. This week, they face off against Atlantic High School in the regional semi-finals on Saturday, February 21, @5pm.Â
Dominating the waters: Lady Jags water polo
Last week, the Lady Jags water polo team officially splashed into their season as they competed in two games and went 2-0. First, they were away at South Broward High School on Tuesday, February 10, and won 17-5. Then, they were away again on Wednesday, February 11, at St. Andrews High School and left with another Jaguar victory of 16-9.
The Lady Jags currently hold a record of 2-0 and have three games scheduled for this week. The first is away at Cypress Bay High School on Tuesday, February 17 @6:30 pm. This is followed by another away game at Cardinal Gibbons High School on Wednesday, February 18 @6:30 pm. Then, they end off their week on Thursday, February 19 @6:30 pm against Pompano Beach High School.Â

Making a splash: Jag Boys water polo
Last week, the Jag Boys water polo team officially splashed into their season as they competed in two games and went 1-1. Then, they were away again on Wednesday, February 11, at St. Andrews High School and lost 17-29.

Claws out: Lady Jags softballÂ
The Lady Jags softball team roars into their season this week as they have three games scheduled. Their first game is away at Monarch High School on Tuesday, February 17 @3:45 pm. This is followed by their home opener against Somerset Academy Silver Palms on Thursday, February 19 @6:30 pm. Then, they end their week under the Friday night lights at Cooper City High School on February 20 @6:30 pm.
Chasing Excellence: Lady Jags JV softball
This week, the Lady Jags JV softball team swings into their season as they have a double header on Saturday, February 21 @10 am and @12 pm at Western High School.Â
Chasing every point: Jaguars tennis
The Jaguars Tennis team had three matches scheduled for last week, yet one got cancelled, and out of the 41 games, the Jaguars won 40 of them. Their first match was on Monday, February 9, and they were the home team as they faced off against Cardinal Gibbons High School and left with a Jaguar victory for both the boys and the girls teams. This was followed by an away game at Blanche Ely High School on Tuesday, February 10.Â
They did not have a boys’ team, so only the girls competed, and they left with another win. Then, they were scheduled to compete against Taravella High School on Thursday, February 12, yet the match got cancelled.Â
This week, they have two matches scheduled, the first is on Thursday, February 19 @4:30 at Western High School. Then, they end their week under the Friday night lights on February 20, @4:30 they are the home team against Dillard High School.Â
Jaguars varsity baseball swinging through the season
Last week, the Jaguars baseball team swung into the spring season as they competed in two games and went 0-2. The first game was at home against West Broward High School on Tuesday, February 10. The Jaguars lost the game 1-10. This was followed by an away game at University School High School on Wednesday, February 11, and they lost again with a final score of 1-4.Â
The Jaguars currently hold a record of 0-2 and have two games scheduled for this week. The first game is at home against Somerset Academy High School on Tuesday, February 17 @6:30pm. This is followed by an away game at Western High School on Thursday, February 19 @6:30pm.Â

Jaguars JV baseball Ready to Roar
This week, the Jaguars JV baseball team roared into their season as they competed in a double header on Saturday, February 14, against Barbara Goleman High School. They left both games with a Jaguar victory; the first game ended 16-3, while the second game ended 11-5.
The JV Jaguars baseball team now stands with a record of 2-0. This week, they are away as they compete in another double header against Mater Academy High School on Saturday, February 21 @10 am and @12:30 pm.
Jaguars track sprinting into the season
Last week, the Jaguars track team competed in their first meet of the season, which was the Louie Bing Invitational at Traz Powell Stadium on February 13 and 14.Â
This week, the Jaguars compete in two meets. The first one is at Western High School on Tuesday, February 17 @4pm, this is followed by another meet on Saturday, February 21 @8 am at Coral Springs High School.Â
Lady Jags flag football takes the field
The Lady Jags flag football team kicks off its season this week, as they have one game scheduled. The game is away at South Plantation High School on Thursday, February 19 @6 pm.
