Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week twenty-six of The Claw spring sports edition. As winter sports begin to wrap up, our spring teams continue their seasons. Last week was an eventful one, as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report.
Jags soccer protecting the den
Last week, the Jags boys’ soccer team competed in the regional finals against Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School on Tuesday, February 17, at home. They left with a Jaguar victory of 0-0, winning in penalty kicks 3-2.
The Jags boys soccer team now stands with a record of 11-5-3 and is ranked #67 in the state of Florida and #165 in the nation. They continue their postseason run as they compete in the states this week.
The first game is the state semifinals against Jesuit High School on Friday, February 27, @7pm in Auburndale. Then, if they win, they advance to the state championship, which takes place on Saturday, February 28 @7pm.

Lady Jags on the Prowl
Last week, the Lady Jags soccer team concluded their season in the regional finals against Lourdes Academy High School on Tuesday, February 17. They lost the game with a final score of 2-2, losing 3-5 in penalty kicks.
The Lady Jags soccer team’s final record stands at 14-3-2, and they ended their season ranked #20 in the state of Florida and #28 in the nation.

- Catalina Castro scored one goal.
- Madison Connacher scored one goal.
- Sierra St. Surin with two assists.
Jaguars basketball back for revenge
The Jaguars varsity basketball team went 1-0 last week as they competed in the regional semifinals. On Saturday, February 21, they competed against Atlantic High School and advanced to the regional finals with a Jaguar victory of 84-45.
The Jaguars currently hold a record of 19-6 and are ranked #1 in their region, 5A. This week, they face off against Belen Jesuit High School in the regional finals on Saturday, February 28, @7pm.
Dominating the waters: Lady Jags water polo
Last week, the Lady Jags water polo team competed in two games and went 2-0. First, they were away at Cypress Bay High School on Tuesday, February 17, and won 13-10. Then, they were away again on Thursday, February 19, at Pompano Beach High School and left with another Jaguar victory of 21-5.
The Lady Jags currently hold a record of 4-0 and have two games scheduled for this week. Their first game is away at Nova High School on Tuesday, February 24 @7 pm. This is followed by another away game at Westminster Academy High School on Wednesday, February 25 @4:30 pm.

Making a splash: Jag Boys water polo
Last week, the Jag Boys water polo team competed in two games and went 0-2. First, they were away at Cypress Bay High School on Tuesday, February 17, and lost 14-20. Then, they were the home team on Thursday, February 19, against Northeast High School, and lost 11-24.
Currently, they hold a record of 1-3 and have one game scheduled for this week. The Jaguars are away as they face off against Westminster Academy High School on Wednesday, February 25 @5:30 pm.

Claws out: Lady Jags softball
The Lady Jags softball team roared into their season last week and went 1-1 as they competed in two games. Their first game was away at Monarch High School on Tuesday, February 17, and they left with a Jaguar victory of 11-0. Then, they had their home opener against Somerset Academy Silver Palms on Thursday, February 19, and left with a loss of 0-10.
They currently stand with a record of 1-1 and have three games scheduled for this week. Their first game takes place on Tuesday, February 24, @6:30 pm, as they are away and face off against Cooper City High School. This is followed by a home game against Somerset Academy Pines on Wednesday, February 25, @6:30 pm. Finally, they end off their week under the Friday night lights on February 27 @6:30 pm at American Heritage.
Chasing Excellence: Lady Jags JV softball
Last week, the Lady Jags JV softball team swung into their season as they had a doubleheader on Saturday, February 21, against Western High School. They lost the first game with a final score of 5-9, and they also lost the second game with a final score of 2-14.
They currently stand with a record of 0-2 and compete in another double header this week. On Saturday, February 28 @10 am and @12 pm, they are away as they face off against Doral Academy High School.
Claws in the court: Jaguars tennis
The Jaguars tennis team competed in two matches scheduled for last week and won every single game. Their first match was on Thursday, February 19, at Western High School. This was followed by a home match against Dillard High School on Friday, February 20.
This week, they have one match scheduled, which is on Tuesday, February 24, @4:30, as they are the home team against Archbishop McCarthy High School.
Jaguars varsity baseball swinging through the season
Last week, the Jaguars baseball team went 1-1 as they had two games scheduled. The first game was at home against Somerset Academy High School on Tuesday, February 17, and they lost the game in extra innings with a final score of 2-1. This was followed by an away game at Western High School on Thursday, February 19, and they left with a Jaguar victory of 9-8.
The Jaguars currently hold a record of 1-3 and host the BCAA Tier II tournament this week at their home field. The first game is against Deerfield Beach High School on Monday, February 23, @6:30pm. If they win the game, they move on to the next game, which takes place on Wednesday, February 25, followed by the championship game on Friday, February 27.

- Dean Jaworski batting 0.364, fielding 0.750, with an ERA of 0.00, and one stolen base.
- Maddox Hivon batting 0.286 and fielding 1.000.
- Jack Anthony Hernandez is batting 0.231 and fielding 0.968.
- Andrew Probst batting 0.222, fielding 0.955, with an ERA of 2.33.
Jaguars JV baseball ready to roar
This week, the Jaguars JV baseball team competed in a doubleheader this week on Saturday, February 21. They were away as they faced off against Mater Academy High School, losing the first game 1-13, as well as the second game with a final score of 5-6.
The JV Jaguars baseball team now stands with a record of 2-2. This week, they compete in a home game against Taravella High School on Saturday, February 28 @10 am.
Jaguars track sprinting into the season
Last week, the Jaguars track team competed in two meets. The first one was at Western High School on Tuesday, February 17, followed by another meet on Saturday, February 21, at Coral Springs High School.
This week, the Jaguars compete in one meet, which takes place on Tuesday, February 24, at Flanagan High School.
Lady Jags flag football takes the field
The Lady Jags flag football team competed in two games last week and went 0-2. The first game was away at Chaminade Madonna High School on Tuesday, February 17. They lost the game 6-12. Then, they ended their week away at South Plantation High School on Thursday, February 19, and lost the game 0-25.
They currently stand with a record of 0-2 and compete in one game this week. The game is against St. Thomas Aquinas High School on Tuesday, February 24, @6 pm.
