Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week thirteen of The Claw, fall sports edition. Last week was an eventful one as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report, as the fall sports season is wrapping up and the winter sports season is now beginning.
Jags swimming to success
Last week, the Jags swim team concluded their season at regionals on Thursday, November 6, as none of their swimmers qualified for states. Since their season is officially over, they have no more meets scheduled.
Jags Cross Country sprinting through the season
Last week, the Jags Cross Country team competed in districts on Thursday, November 6. The boys placed third overall while the girls placed fourth overall. This week, they compete in regionals at South Fork Canoe Launch on Saturday, November 15.
Jags Soccer Protecting the Den
Last week, the Jags soccer team kicked off their season at their home opener on Tuesday, November 4, against Cooper City High School. They lost the game with a final score of 1-2, and the goal was scored by senior Julian Iodice. Their record for the season is now 0-1.
This week, the Jags have two games scheduled as the first one is at home yet again against Taravella High School on Monday, November 10, @4pm. This is followed by an away game against Nova High School on Wednesday, November 12 @5pm.
Lady Jags on the Prowl
The Lady Jags soccer team roared into their season with a win at their home opener against Cooper City High School on Tuesday, November 4. They ended the game with a final score of 1-0, with the goal scored by senior Sierra St. Surin, and their record now stands at 1-0.
This week, the Lady Jags have two games scheduled. The first game is at home as they face off against Taravella High School on Monday, November 10, @6pm and the second game takes place away at Nova High School on Wednesday, November 12 @7pm.
Jaguars basketball back for revenge
After ending last season at regional finals and a record of 19-8, the Jaguars basketball team is back for a revenge season.
This week, they are scheduled to compete in the State Preseason Classic, which takes place at Cardinal Gibbons High School. The first game is against Miami Country Day High School on Friday, November 14 @6:30pm. The second game takes place on Saturday, November 15 @3:30pm against South Plantation High School.
Then, next week the Jaguars officially kick off their regular season at their home opener against Chaminade Madonna High School on Wednesday, November 19 @7:30pm.
JV basketball roaring into the season
The Jaguars JV basketball team is back and roaring into the new season after ending their last one with a record of 9-4. This week they are scheduled to compete in The Crossover Classic in other words preseason at Sagemont Prep. On Thursday, November 13 @4:30pm they are the home team in a game against Archbishop McCarthy High School. On Friday November 14 @6pm they are the home team as they face off against Rivera Prep High School.
Their home opener takes place next week on Wednesday, November 19 @4:30 pm against Chaminade Madonna High School.
Shooting for success: Lady Jags Basketball
As the Lady Jags ended last season at Regional Quarterfinals and with a winning record of 12-11, they are back and shooting for success in the new season. This week, they do not have a game scheduled, but their first game of the season takes place next week on Wednesday, November 19 @6pm at Chaminade Madonna High School.
