SGA Elections: Choosing Charter’s new leaders

April 1st to 5th marked the exciting time of year in which PPCHS students ran for a position in the Student Government Council. The final decision being left to their fellow peers who get to vote for the candidate they think will represent the student body best.

With nine different positions available and thirteen people for the run, it was time to make their goals known to the school and for their name to be shared throughout social media platforms in order to promote themselves.

“To be honest campaigning was a little stressful for me. I just tried to do the most I could to help myself. As part of my campaign, I created posters on Canva and asked people to repost them on Snapchat and Instagram. I also asked a lot of my friends and people around school to vote for me!” explains winning Senior Senator, Zoe Cooper.

From colorful flyers, to creative digital clips and fun TikTok videos, candidates explored their creativity and created unique content that would help students choose their final voting decision. While also walking around campus and talking to the students whose decisions lay in their hands.

Sophomore Kai Viau enthusiastically states, “I was excited to get to vote for future officers. The student body likes to have the opportunity to elect the candidate that best reflects our school’s morals and principals.”

After a week of strong promotion and plenty of different flyers circulating all forms of media, the ballot opened for two days on April 4th and 5th. An email reaching all students on campus was sent with the QR code needed to open the form that would determine the final winners.

After school on April 5th, the long awaited email was sent by Ms. Torres to all PPCHS students congratulating the newly inducted Student Government officers for the 2024-2025 school year!
