No Last Dramatic Goodbye for Madison Hurtado

The widespread virus COVID-19 put numerous events on hold. For some, these events were a few of their firsts, whereas for others it was their last and final chance to experience them. This is a reality for many seniors in Pembroke Pines Charter’s Drama Class, especially Madison Hurtado the 2019-2020 President. For her, drama has played a big role in her high school experience. She has been in the class since her freshman year. She says, leading the drama class “allows me to express what I love.” Before the news came of the school’s closing, she was struck with the news that her class’s state’s trip was canceled. She explained, “Everyone was really devastated because for some it would’ve been the first and last time we would’ve gone”. Following the news of state’s being canceled, she found out about the school closing. She viewed this news as yet another devastation because now her final show, “Into the Woods Jr.,” as a part of Troupe 6153 was canceled. She stated, “When school got canceled we didn’t know for how long, but when we heard it was until May 4th we all texted and were really sad. It was the first time many people had leads and everyone was excited to perform one last time.” As of right now, she’s unaware of what is to come of the show. Although heartache has developed from the missed experiences due to COVID-19, Madison is able to look back at her school years and be grateful for all the memories and experiences she went through with Troupe 6153.
