The Student Government Association celebrates their annual Environmental Week
As students joined together, they used this as a perfect opportunity to teach one another how to turn old t-shirts into reusable tote bags. Making this not only an opportunity for students to get together and create memories, but also a way to create eco-friendly activities to recognize environmental week
Sophomore Emma Betancourt comments on how, “The t-shirt making event was by far my favorite. We had a very good turnout, and everyone at the event spoke very highly about the activity.”
To represent the importance of Environmental Week, SGA held a movie night, starring “THE LORAX.” This movie was shown as a way to make a connection to the importance of trees. As the movie is focused primarily on saving the environment, it was the perfect choice in mind.
Sophomore Carla Duran mentions how, “I think the Lorax is such a symbolic movie for so many reasons. Besides its jokes and silliness, it’s genuinely such a good representation of the impacts we have on the Earth. The lack of air and the artificial “nature” give us a clue of what our planet could look like if we continue to take from nature’s resources.”
After a long week, students joined together for their annual beach clean. Students not only came together to help clean the beach but also to connect to one another as they turned this night into a fun outing.
Junior, Axel De La Cruz, explains that “The beach cleanup was a great success. We were blasting music, hanging out, and cleaning up. We all got along and enjoyed cleaning the beach up. We then finished and ended the night with a fun beach day.”

This is such a good idea and i’m so glad my student government achieved it! This was very aesthetically appealing and I loved the pictures.
