Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week seven of The Claw, fall sports edition. Last week was an eventful one as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report.
Lady Jags securing the net
Last week, the Lady Jags Varsity Volleyball team competed in a home game against Cardinal Gibbons High School on Thursday, September 25th. They left with a Jaguar victory and a final score of 3-1 now making their record 8-4.
This week, the Lady Jags compete in the BCAA Big 8 tournament on Tuesday, September 30th. This tournament is an elimination based bracket that consists of the top eight high school volleyball teams and the winner is labeled BCAA champion.
Next week on Monday, October 6th the Lady Jags face off at home against St. Thomas Aquinas High School @6pm. This is followed by two away games on Tuesday, October 7th @6pm against Western High School and on Wednesday, October 8th @6pm against Piper High School. Finally on Thursday, October 9th @6 pm the Lady Jags face off against Nova High School at home.
Building Momentum: Lady Jags JV Volleyball in Action
The Lady Jags JV Volleyball team competed in a home game against Cardinal Gibbons High School last week on Thursday, September 25th which they ended with a loss.
Although they do not have a game scheduled this week, their next one takes place at home on Monday, October 1st against St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
Jag Boyz Football roaring through the season
On Friday, September 26th, the Jag Boyz competed in an away game against Miramar High School. The Jaguars lost the game with a final score of 0-39 making their record now 1-5.
This week the Jag Boyz compete in another away game on Friday, October 3rd @7 pm against Nova High School.
JV Jags Football roaring into the season
Last week was a bye week for the JV Jags Football team which means that they did not compete in a game. Yet this week, the JV Jags have an away game at Hollywood Hills High School on Tuesday, September 30th @6:30 pm. Their record currently stands at 1-2.
Jags swimming to success
The Jags swim team competed in a meet at home on Wednesday, September 24th against Dillard High School, Everglades High School, and West Broward High School where they secured a Jaguar victory.
Their next meet is scheduled to take place at home against Nova High School and South Plantation High School on Tuesday, September 30th @7pm.
Jags Cross Country sprinting through the season
The Jags Cross Country Team competed in their fourth meet on Wednesday, September 24th at Plantation Heritage Park. Their next meet takes place on Wednesday, October 8th @4:30 pm.
Many of the Jags placed high in both the girls and boys meets from last week; here are some of the highlights and stats.
Jags that placed:
- Alayah Samuel #10 in the girl’s 4,925 meters at 23.31.00 minutes.
- Alyssa Salmon #10 in the girl’s 4,925 meters at 23:42.60 minutes.
- Elysia Wong #13 in the girl’s 4,925 meters at 23.43.40 minutes.
- Kevin Garcia #15 in the boy’s 4,925 meters at 19.39.20 minutes.
Jags Golf Team swinging through the season
On Monday, September 22nd, the Jags Golf Team competed in an away match which took place at South Broward High School. This was followed by a home match on Thursday, September 25th against Western High School. The results from this match will be added to the players stats and released at the end of the season.
This week, the Jags golf team is away as they have one match scheduled and face off against Cypress Bay High School on Wednesday, October 1st @3:30 pm.
