Seniors sign into their next chapter: PPCHS’s in-state college commitments

PPCHS In-State College Commitments

As graduation approaches, seniors’ college commitments spread around campus, and students celebrate the Class of 2026’s achievements. Whether it is the University of Florida, Florida State University, or the University of Central Florida, many of Charter’s students are committing to schools across the state and building an accomplished future. 

Victoria Regueiro committed to Nova Southeastern University and plans to major in business.
Nova Southeastern University: Victoria Regueiro

Victoria Regueiro committed to Nova Southeastern University (NSU) as a business major through a scholarship based on her grades and test scores, including a 1290 on the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) and a 1310 superscore. Throughout her high school career, she has participated in many school clubs, out-of-school sports, and other programs as well. Some of the in-school clubs she is involved in include the National English Honor Society, the National Art Honor Society, and the Chorus Club. 

Outside of school, Regueiro participated in synchronized figure skating and Kung Fu throughout her entire high school career, for latter of which she earned her black belt. During the summer, she attended a soccer camp and performed in musicals for the theater side of the camp. Additionally, she undertook the AICE program, earning her the Bright Futures scholarship, which provides recipients with free college tuition for all public Florida schools. Currently, she is engaged in dual enrollment at Broward College and will be graduating with an associate’s degree in May. 

Regueiro notes to underclassmen, “If you are doing a lot in high school, it is usually a good thing and will get you places.”

Andrew Santos committed to the University of Central Florida, and is enrolling as a kinesiology major.
University of Central Florida: Andrew Santos

Andrew Santos committed to the University of Central Florida (UCF) to study kinesiology and to focus on sports performance. In 2023, Santos toured college campuses with his sister, and he mentioned that the second he stepped on UCF’s campus, he knew where he wanted to go to college, as he loved how the campus felt and looked. During his time as a Charter student, he volunteered in many youth sports programs, ranging from coaching to development. 

Having taken several AICE and Advanced Placement (AP) courses at Charter as well as scoring a 1290 on the SAT, Santos prioritized academics throughout high school. 

“The four years of high school seem long when you’re in them, but looking back, it is something that feels so quick, and you are definitely going to miss it,” Santos advises.

Aiden Oscar committed to Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and will major in computer engineering.
Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University: Aiden Oscar

Aiden Oscar committed to Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) to pursue computer engineering. During his time as a Jaguar, he was a part of several sports teams, including the football team for four years and the track team during his junior and senior years. Additionally, he participated in clubs like Student Government Association (SGA), Promote Her, Period., Black Student Union (BSU), and Yearbook. By his senior year, he had also garnered around 250 volunteer hours. 

Academically, Oscar made sure to stand out by taking 12 honors classes throughout his high school career, as well as scoring a 1170 on the SAT. 

Leaving advice for underclassmen, he explains, “Do not be afraid to try new things or put yourself out there. At the end of the day, you do not want to look back at high school and wish you had tried something before it is too late.”

Briana Mendez committed to Florida International University, and plans to major in psychology.
Florida International University: Briana Mendez

Briana Mendez committed to Florida International University (FIU) after reclassing from the Class of 2027 to the Class of 2026 and is majoring in psychology. FIU became her final decision because she wanted to stay close to home, and many of her family and friends attended the school. Throughout high school, she frequently volunteered at places like Memorial Hospital, where she served on a suicide prevention hotline, Hey Sam. Additionally, she volunteered for the city of Pembroke Pines as an assistant event coordinator as well as for Kumon, a math tutoring center, since her freshman year. 

During her time as a Jaguar, Mendez earned her AICE diploma, took several rigorous classes as well as dual enrollment classes, and scored in the 79th percentile out of all test takers on the SAT. 

Mendez says, “Make sure not to spend all of your time studying; instead, keep a balance—enjoy outings while maintaining a good academic standing.”

Juanjose Pazmino committed to the University of Florida as an applied physiology and kinesiology major.
University of Florida: Juanjose Pazmino

JuanJose Pazmino committed to the University of Florida (UF), majoring in applied physiology and kinesiology. To Pazmino, UF has been his dream school for the past six years, inspired by a campus tour when his older brother was looking at future schools. Personally, he is emotionally attached to their sports teams and is also interested in their top-ranked sports medicine program. He believes that UF contains an environment full of empowering and intelligent leaders. 

Throughout high school, Pazmino attempted to make a significant impact wherever he could, like serving as President of HIP and the Spanish Honor Society his senior year, as well as participating in clubs such as the Science National Honor Society and Helping Hands United. Knowing that his dream school was extremely competitive to get into, Pazmino devoted his high school years to academics and secured his spot by earning a 1470 on the SAT and maintaining a weighted GPA of 5.4 and 3.9 unweighted.

He notes to underclassmen, “Go with the flow and trust the process. High school is a long, challenging journey; when the time comes, just have fun and know you can find happiness anywhere, whether it’s your dream school or somewhere you hadn’t imagined.”

Janice Chung committed to the University of South Florida, and will major in nursing.
University of South Florida: Janice Chung

Janice Chung committed to the University of South Florida (USF) to pursue nursing. She explains that she committed to USF because of their impressive nursing program. During her time at Charter, she completed many dual enrollment courses and Advanced Placement (AP) classes as well. 

Some of the clubs she took part in include HOSA, National English Honor Society, Key Club, PSI Alpha (Psychology Honor Society), National Art Honor Society, and Red Cross. Chung is also a part of the advertising team of Jag Shack. Additionally, she has volunteered at the Memorial West Hospital for about two years, as well as medical summer programs at Nova Southeastern University. 

Chung emphasizes, “Make sure to get involved with the community and the school in any way possible. It brings unforgettable memories, connections, friendships, and mentally betters oneself.”

Adriana Camara committed to Florida State University as a communication sciences and disorders major.
Florida State University: Adriana Camara

Adriana Camara committed to Florida State University (FSU) to pursue communication sciences and disorders. Camara explains that she committed there because it has been a dream school of hers for a very long time and also due to the unique program for her major. 

Throughout her high school years, she took several AP courses as well as dual enrollment, and she will be graduating from Broward College with her associate’s degree in spring 2026. Some extracurriculars she took part in include History Honor Society (Rho Kappa), the dance team, and the cheer team. She got a 1330 super-scored SAT and qualified for the Bright Futures scholarship. 

“‘No’ is not a rejection. It is a redirection, and do not let it stop you from achieving your dreams,” Camara shares.

Hideaki Witkowski committed to Florida Atlantic University, and will pursue a degree in marketing.
Florida Atlantic University: Hideaki Witkowski

Hideaki Witkowski committed to Florida Atlantic University (FAU) to pursue a degree in marketing. He has decided to go there due to the cost, friends, business major, and study abroad opportunities, as some of his family members live in Japan, which is where his grandparents live. 

During high school, Witkowski took several honors classes and three Advanced Placement (AP) courses as well, scoring a 1210 on the SAT. Outside of school, he did martial arts for 13 years, as well as volunteering at the Pembroke Pines Police Department for all four years of high school. Also, he has taken Japanese classes since he was young. 

Witkowski explains, “Everyone has ups and downs, but it is all mindset. You decide what you want to do. Do not let others bring you down. Stay up.”
