The Pembroke Pines Charter High School (PPCHS) band starts up the fall Pep Rally with a powerful tune. Students fill up the gym. Their school spirit is palpable, and everyone is ready for a great performance.

This year’s fall Pep Rally is made up of many PPCHS students who have put immense effort into making the event one to remember. The hard work and preparation started weeks ago; groups such as Latin Dance, Bollywood, K-Pop, Zumba, Dance Team, and Step Team have been practicing and perfecting their performances to bring the energy for the Jaguars during the Pep Rally.

Aiden Oscar and Kamir Johnson, seniors from the PPCHS Student Government Association (SGA), were the hosts and brought so much excitement to the crowd. Their liveliness hyped up students and allowed them to enjoy their time at the event.

All the fall sports teams then had their moment to represent themselves. The swim, cross country, golf, JV and varsity football, and volleyball teams each had their time to shine, all with unique celebrations representing their sports.

After that, the gym’s energy amped up with the PPCHS cheerleaders’ opening performance. Shouting with all their might, these cheerleaders gave it their all, making sure the crowd was filled with school spirit.

PPCHS sophomore Bella Gil comments before the Pep Rally, “Being caught up with competition, the Pep Rally preparation was kind of last-minute, honestly. However, the girls all got it together and [we were] confident that [we were] going to do good.”

After Cheer was the Bollywood team. From the moment they walked on to the court, they had their game faces on. Bollywood showed passion in their dance and let the crowd know how it’s done.

Next was Zumba; students from Ms. Cordova’s dance classes filled the court, and the Zumba performance was one to remember. Students on both sides of the gym delivered an enthusiastic performance, not to mention the baseball-inspired bit they did. The crowd erupted after senior Jesse Cisneros hit a home run, bringing joy and laughter throughout the gym.

Shortly after, K-pop took the spotlight. This group gave it their all, performing popular songs like “Gnarly” and “Milkshake” inspired by the girl group Katseye. The crowd went wild seeing their eye-catching moves.

Having so many students in the crowd cheering made the Pep Rally feel similar to a party. The hosts knew what time it was. Every Pep Rally, students on each side of the gym are challenged to see who can be the loudest with their P.A.R.T.Y. chant. This part of the Pep Rally got students on their feet, determined to beat the competition across from them.

Next on the court, the Step Team gives an impressive performance. The precision in each movement was recognized and appreciated. They had fun with their performance, yet also showed PPCHS students their talents at their full potential.

Near the end, the Latin Dance team, also known as La Familia, put on an unforgettable show. Two minutes into their performance, many students from the crowd began to sing along to “Tú Con Él” by Rauw Alejandro. This wholesome moment captured PPCHS students all coming together, supporting one another.

After that, La Familia continued their thrilling performance dancing to “La Mudanza” by Bad Bunny. They performed with style, passion, and jaw-dropping tricks, catching the attention of the crowd.

“This choreography was my favorite that we have ever done, and seeing the crowd enjoy it too made me feel so happy,” says senior captain of La Familia, Natalia Sarria.

The last dance number was dedicated to the PPCHS Dance team. Dancing to her top hits, Tate McRae was the artist of choice. The Dance team hit every beat with grit and love for the sport. With dances choreographed by each captain of the team, they truly showcased their talent and skill.

The support from the crowds was tremendous, with students cheering their friends on and spreading positive remarks in support. Not only do students get to enjoy watching the performances, but also their fellow classmates and friends who are featured in the show as well.

The fall Pep Rally ended with a few amusing games of tug of war. Hosts Oscar and Johnson selected people from the crowd, including staff, for these games. After a few exciting and competitive rounds, the band returned to play their captivating number, and the 2025 fall Pep Rally came to a close, bringing PPCHS students together through Jaguar pride.
