Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week ten of The Claw, fall sports edition. Last week was an eventful one as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report.
Lady Jags securing the net
Last week, the Lady Jags varsity volleyball team competed in two games, which were part of the districts. On Wednesday, October 15, the Lady Jags faced off against Hollywood Hills High School and ended the game with a Jaguar victory of 3-0. They then moved on in the district bracket to face off against Archbishop McCarthy High School in district finals and ended the game in a 0-3 loss, now making their record 11-8.
Even though the Lady Jags lost in the district finals, this week they advance and continue their playoff run due to their winning record. On Wednesday, October 22 @7 pm, they face off against Lourdes Academy in the regional quarterfinals.
Jag Boyz football is roaring through the season
On Thursday, October 16, the Jag Boyz competed in a home game against Everglades High School. The Jaguars won the game with a final score of 35-20, making their record now 2-7.
This week, the Jag Boyz compete in their last game of the season on Thursday, October 16 @6 pm at home against Hallandale High School. Additionally, this game will be their senior night, and the ceremony will take place before the game.
JV Jags football is attempting to rebuild the program
Last week, the JV Jags football team competed in an away game against Nova High School on Wednesday, October 15, and ended the game with a Jaguar victory of 11-6. Their record currently stands at 2-4.
This week, the JV Jags were scheduled to face off in their last game of the season against Hallandale High School on Wednesday, October 22. Yet, the game got canceled, and they have officially concluded their season with a 2-4 final record.
Jags swimming to success
The Jags swim team competed in their last home meet of the season on Tuesday, October 14, against Miramar High School and Taravella High School. Now they are heading into districts, and the date of the meet is tentative.
Jags Cross Country sprinting through the season
Last week, the Jags cross country team competed in the BCAA Championships on Monday, October 13, at Markham Park. Overall, the boys placed 6 out of 24 teams that had competed in the meet, and the girls placed 10 out of 24.
The Jags continue through their season as they have another meet this week at Quiet Waters Park on October 21.
Jags Golf Team swinging through the season
On Thursday, October 16, the Jags golf team concluded their regular season against South Broward High School at home. The results from this match will be added to the players’ stats and released at the end of the season.
