Blades scraping against one another, fire hurled in all directions, and a constant rampage engulfs the entire theater. All of a sudden, the stress-inducing action transitions to scenes reflecting sincerity and hope. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba- The Movie: Infinity Castle brought in all types of emotions, evoking heartfelt tears from audiences.
The film is about the protagonist Tanjiro Kamado, who strives to become a demon slayer after his family suffers a demon-struck tragedy. His sister, Nezuko, is turned into a dreaded monster, leaving Kamado with no choice but to take revenge against the antagonist, demon king Muzan, to cure his sister.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle includes a suspenseful plot, battle scenes with stunning visuals, and a compelling backstory. The film left viewers in shock with its in-depth flashbacks of another antagonist, Akaza. This allows viewers to see a new perspective of villains who carry heavy burdens, rather than just being “plain evil.”
“The colors and special effects were done very nicely, especially the ones that showed the characters’ breathing techniques,” comments Pembroke Pines Charter High School sophomore Ayanna Johnson. She adds, “The plot was also done beautifully, and the amount of backstory helped to thicken the plot and add so much emotion to the story.”
Viewers felt that there wasn’t one second when the movie was boring; there was excitement in every corner with the variety of plot twists. To tie everything together, the voice acting and animation were said to be high-quality, with battle scenes containing high-impact frames, water and fire effects, and vibrant expressions.
“When I say that there wasn’t a dull moment, I mean that my theater was captured in shock throughout the whole 2 hours and 30 minutes. [This was] due to the majesty of the extremely well executed animation, plotline, and the way they brought the source material to life,” exclaims sophomore Dominic Hedge.
A few characters introduced in the show Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba were also featured in the movie. However, they were different this time. While trying to capture Muzan, the characters underwent a dramatic change. The difference between their development in the show and the movie created a significant shift within the movie for fans, adding a much more serious tone to the story.
Junior Fabrizio Alcazar Fonseca mentions, “I’d recommend [the movie] even though it’s low-key an emotional rollercoaster. It’s worth [watching], especially [because you can see] Zenitsu locked in, because usually his goofy [side] is a sight to behold. That got me more hyped.”
This new arc of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle persists over a long period of time. Even though the movie is almost three hours long, fans were still left on a cliffhanger with unanswered questions. This period of the franchise will end in 2029 when the 3rd movie is presumed to be released.
Freshman Josh Monde adds, “I’ve been waiting for this movie for a while, and I heard that the story is split up into three [parts]. The last one comes out when I graduate in 2029!”Both the movie and show have their strengths and weaknesses, but the plot, all the way to the sound effects, has made the movie a fan-favorite pick. The film will continue to break records at the box office with its emotional impact and thrilling plot.
