Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week five of The Claw, fall sports edition. Last week was an eventful week, as many of our Jaguar athletic programs competed in several games. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report.
Lady Jags securing the net
Last week, the Lady Jags Varsity Volleyball team competed in three games. Although they had four scheduled, their game against Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Monday, September 8th, was cancelled due to one of the referees being a no-show.
On Tuesday, September 9th, they played against Cooper City High School at home. They secured a win, with a final score of 3-1. Then, on Wednesday, September 10th, the Lady Jags traveled to Fort Lauderdale High School and secured yet another win; the final score being 3-1. Finally, on Thursday, September 11th, they traveled to Coral Glades High School and secured their third Jaguar victory of the week. The Lady Jags went undefeated this week with three wins, making their record now 6-3.
This week, they have three games scheduled, two of which are at home and one away. The first game takes place at home, as the Lady Jags face off against West Broward High School on Monday, September 15th @6 pm. This is then followed by an away game at Everglades High School on Wednesday, September 17th @6 pm. At the end of this week, their final game of the week takes place at home on Thursday, September 18th, @6pm against Coconut Creek High School.
Building Momentum: Lady Jags JV Volleyball in Action
The Lady Jags JV Volleyball team had four back-to-back games scheduled for last week, yet their home game against Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Monday, September 8th, was cancelled.
On Tuesday, September 9th, they competed against Cooper City High School at home, leaving with a loss and a final score of 2-1. Followed by two away games, one being at Fort Lauderdale High School on Wednesday, September 10th, the Lady Jags JV Volleyball team left with a Jaguar victory of 2-1. Finally, on Thursday, September 11th, they traveled to Coral Glades High School and ended the game with another victory of 2-0. The JV Lady Jags’ record is now 4-3.
This week, the JV Lady Jags compete in three games: two home and one away. The first game is at home on Monday, September 15th @4:30 pm against West Broward High School. This is followed by an away game at Everglades High School on Wednesday, September 17th @4:30 pm. Finally, on Thursday, September 18th @4:30 pm, they compete against Coconut Creek High School at home.
Jag Boyz Football roaring through the season
On Friday, September 12th, the Jag Boyz competed in a home game against North Miami High School. The Jaguars lost the game with a final score of 42-0, making their record 1-3.
Next week, the Jag Boyz compete in an away game on Friday, September 19th @7 pm against Cooper City High School.

- Quarterback Trent Beesing with 154 total yards and 14 completions.
- Wide receiver Michael Akinbehinje with 70 receiving yards.
- Defensive back Emmanuel Toussaint with four total tackles.
JV Jags Football roaring into the season
On Wednesday, September 10th, the JV Jags Football Team played an away game at Cypress Bay High School. The JV Jags ended the game with a nail-biter loss, with a final score of 20-15, making their record now 0-2.
Next week, the JV Jags have a home game scheduled against Northeast High School at @6:30 pm.
Jags swimming to success
The Jags swim team competed in a meet at home on Wednesday, September 10th @7 pm against Piper High School and West Broward High School. The boys’ and girls’ teams both ended the night with a win.
The Jags’ next meet is scheduled at home against Coral Springs Charter High School and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Tuesday, September 16th, @7pm.
Jags Cross Country sprinting through the season
The Jags Cross Country Team competed in their second meet on Wednesday, September 10th @4:30 pm at the BCAA week two at Tradewinds Park, which included several Jags that placed. This week, the Jags compete in BCAA week three on Tuesday, September 16th at TradeWinds Park at @4:30 pm.
Jags Golf Team swinging through the season
On Tuesday, September 9th, the Jags Golf Team competed in a match at home against Flanagan High School. This was followed by another match at home on Thursday, September 11th, against South Plantation High School. Yet, the Jags will not know if they qualify for placement until after districts, when all results are finalized.
This week, the Jags face off against Coral Glades High School at Coral Glades High School on Thursday, September 18th @3:30 pm.
