Welcome back, Jaguars! Thank you for tuning in to week four of The Claw, fall sports edition. Last week was an eventful week, as many of our Jaguar sport’s teams kicked off their seasons. Let’s get straight into last week’s athletic report.
Lady Jags securing the net
Last week, the Lady Jags Varsity Volleyball team competed in two games. The first game took place at South Plantation High School on Wednesday, September 3rd. The Lady Jags secured a win, with a final score of 3-0. Also, on Friday, September 5th, they competed against Somerset Academy at home and gathered a nail-biting win, with the final score being 3-2.
The Lady Jags current record is now 3-3, which is a winning average of .500. This week, they have a back to back schedule as they have two home games, followed by two away games.
The first two games at home, the Lady Jags face off against Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Monday, September 8th @6 pm and Cooper City High School on Tuesday, September 9th @6 pm.
Soon after, they have two away games, which are against Fort Lauderdale High School on Wednesday, September 10th @6pm and Coral Glades High School on Thursday, August 11th @6 pm.
Building Momentum: Lady Jags JV Volleyball in Action
On Friday, September 5th, the Lady Jags JV Volleyball competed in a last minute scheduled game against Somerset Academy High School. They secured the win and ended the game with a final score of 2-1. They now hold a record of 1-1.
Next week, the Lady Jags compete in four games, which two are home and two are away. The first two games at home are against Marjory Stoneman Douglas on Monday, September 8th @4:30 pm, and then against Cooper City High School on Tuesday, September 9th @4:30 pm.
Followed by these games, they play two away games, which are at Fort Lauderdale High School on Wednesday, September 10th @4:30 pm, and at Coral Glades High School on Thursday, September 11th @4:30 pm.
Jag Boyz Football roaring through the season
On Thursday, September 4th, the Jag Boyz competed in a home game against North Broward Preparatory High School. Even after an attempt to come back in the 4th quarter, they left with a loss of 12-28, as their record is now 1-2.
Left on a revenge note, the Jag Boyz are back next week at home on Friday, September 12th @6 pm against North Miami High School.

- Wide Receiver Michael Akinbehinje with 75 yards and one touchdown.
- Running back Josiah Knight with 82 yards.

JV Jags Football roaring into the season
On Wednesday, September 3rd, the JV Jags Football Team kicked off their home opener against South Plantation High School. The JV Jags ended the game with a loss, and a final score of 7-22.
Next week, the JV Jags are roaring back for revenge with an away game against Cypress Bay High School @5:30 pm.
Jag’s swimming to success
The Jags swim team had a meet scheduled for Thursday, September 4th at home against Coral Springs High School and Macarthur High School. Yet again, the meet got cancelled due to weather complications.
The Jags are looking forward to finally competing in a meet this week, at home on Wednesday, September 10th @7 pm against Piper High School and West Broward High School.
Jag’s Cross Country sprinting into the season
The Jags Cross Country Team’s first meet took place on Tuesday, September 2nd @4 pm at the BCAA week one at Markham Park. Next week, the Jags compete in BCAA week two on Wednesday, September 10th at TradeWinds Park @4:30 pm.
Many of the Jags placed high in both the girls and boys meets, here are some of the highlights and stats.
Jags that placed:
- Junior Adam Stewart #1 in the boy’s 5,000 meters at 17:44.50 minutes.
- Junior Gian Carlo de Bastos #6 in the boy’s 5,000 meters at 18:39.20 minutes.
- Freshman Nolan Masson #11 in the boy’s 5,000 meters at 20:12.60 minutes.
- Junior Alayah Samuel #5 in the girl’s 5,000 meters at 24 minutes on the dot.
- Sophomore Elysia Wong #10 in the girl’s 5,000 meters at 26:55.7 minutes.
Jag’s Golf Team swinging into the season
On Tuesday, September 2nd, the Jag’s Golf Team swung into their home opener against Cypress Bay High School. Although the Jags did not place in any of the matches, they are moving through their season with high hopes.
This week, the Jags face off against Flanagan High School at home on Tuesday, September 9th @3:30 pm. Followed by another match on Thursday, September 11th @3:30 pm against South Plantation High School.
