Next Wednesday, September 3rd, marks the home opener for the Pines Charter Junior Varsity Football team, which is against South Plantation High School. Excited for what comes this season, the Jags have high hopes upon kicking off with a strong start.
The Jags were meant to play against South Plantation last season, however the game got cancelled due to weather conditions. The last time the two schools matched up was two seasons ago, where the Jags managed to pull through with a 15-12 victory against their opponents.
Incoming players are excited for this season, especially Freshman Zayan Moughal on the Defensive Line. “I am excited because I have experience in the sport and I have been playing for four years in recreational leagues, so I’m really excited to see what happens,” he comments. Holding high expectations for his performance this season, Moughal adds that he expects to make as many tackles possible throughout the season alongside three to four sacks.
Players have high hopes for the upcoming season and plan on fulfilling expectations from themselves, as well as coaches and audiences. “My goal is to play sound, do my job and execute it well. Coach always said our goal for the team is alignment, assignment, and execution, so I’m going to achieve my goal by being disciplined, playing well, and just having fun,” adds Sophomore, Defensive Back Jonathan Morris.
Morris comments that he believes that “we have been a disciplined team this year; we have always been ready and working constantly, practicing everyday and we have been having good practices lately. Iron sharpens iron and we’re ready for South Plantation, they don’t know what’s coming to them.”
Although last season’s record was 2-3, The Jags are confident in their playing ability, as they enter with high hopes and an assertive mindset that they will have both a good season and a comeback this year. Needless to say, the JV Jags Football team is ready for what comes this season, and have high expectations and hopes.
