The Oscars, an event holding the most prestigious awards in the film industry, was held on Mar. 2, 2025. Throughout the night, many actors and filmmakers won awards for categories such as Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Animated Picture, and among many others. This is one of the many nights actors dress up and plan for the day.
During this year’s Oscars, one of the more controversial awards presented went to Adrien Brody, who won the award for “Best Actor” this year for his performance in The Brutalist. However, many believe that he didn’t deserve this award because AI was used throughout the entire movie, enhancing the actor’s voices and creating visual elements.
Junior Kasali Gbenro says, “Since the movie changed the voices of the actors, I don’t believe he should have won. It is completely unfair to the other actors who used their own voice and worked hard to perfect things while he got to use AI.”
Some of the other celebrities up for nomination for the Best Actor award were Ralph Fiennes (Conclave), Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice), Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), and Colman Domingo (Sing Sing). Sophomore Tyrus Williams states, “Yes, I believe that Sebastian Stan has worked extra hard throughout his career and deserved that award more than anyone else.”
However, with all of these new facts, varying opinions have circulated. Should have Adrien Brody been given the Best Actor award or should it have been granted to someone else?
