After 20 months on her groundbreaking Eras Tour, pop phenomenon Taylor Swift took her final bow on December 8th in Vancouver, Canada. The Eras Tour traveled across the globe, stopping in North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. Swift and her entourage performed for an estimated 10 million people across her nearly two-year-long tour, earning $2 billion, breaking the record for the highest-grossing tour of all time.
For all three nights in Vancouver, Swift wore the same outfits as a camera crew filmed her alongside aerial cameras and ground cameras. This led fans to suspect a second Eras Tour movie including the pop star’s newest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which debuted on stage in Paris. The album was omitted from the movie, which was shot in Los Angeles before the Paris shows.
“I think right now she’s gonna try and stay out of the public eye and take a much-needed break,” says freshman Emma Betancourt. However, many have hoped for an Eras Tour documentary, covering behind-the-scenes fun, rehearsals, and such. “I definitely think one will come out sometime next year. I would love to see the making of this amazing tour.”
Throughout The Eras Tour, fans have joined together in a celebration of fun, love, and music, making its finale a teary goodbye to not only Swift and her crew, but also the kindness shown along the way. “All those memories she’s made and the performances by her, the band, the dancers, and [background] singers were so amazing, and I’m so thankful I was able to go to a show and experience it,” says Ciara Epstein, a junior.
Though each venue only held about 50,000-90,000 people, thousands of others joined in through live streams on social media.
Epstein says, “I’ll definitely miss staying up all night watching glitchy TikTok live streams… after actually going to one of her shows, I can’t go a day without looking back at my videos and thinking about how good the performances were.”
While Swifties may not know what’s next for Swift, they have cherished her record-breaking, love-filled Eras Tour, from Glendale, Arizona, all the way to Vancouver. Upon the tour’s ending, Swift inspired fans, old and new, to spread kindness and keep their memories of the tour close to their hearts. Despite uncertainty about what’s next, fans remain hopeful for the future of Swift’s career and success.
