Starting off the school year strong with the new Pines Charter volleyball team, throughout the summer the team had their tryouts and have selected what is supposed to be one of the best seasons to come.
The team is now left with 15 girls to help make this an astounding season. After many days of practicing before the actual season, their first game seemed to show up out of the blue.
On August 19, 2024 the PPCHS team drove into Hurricane territory for their first game of the season, at Northeast.
This game resulted in a 3-0 win for the team and was the start of a great season.
Asking Junior Abigail Reynolds how she was able to pump everyone up while still being focused on winning the match even with the first game jitters, she stated, “I really had to try and remind myself and my teammates that we just had to have fun, relax and that everything was okay.”
After such an amazing win, the team was ready for the next game ahead of them, St. Thomas Aquinas.
Last year our volleyball team lost to the Raiders 1-3. So this was a game of redemption for the Lady Jags, unfortunately this was not the result they had hoped for, 0-3 lost.
This really put a damper on the team, however, the Lady Jags kept their heads up high.
Reynolds believes the team needs to put in hard work to become the best of the best and she states, “We’re a good team, we just need to work together more. If anything, we have to work even harder because we lost so many players.”
About 7 graduating seniors this past May, the varsity team has about 15 regular season games left. Hoping for a good run into districts.
An exciting but tough matchups for the Jaguars like cross town rivals, West Broward, Western, and even Cooper City. Much to see from the highly anticipated season.
