The Proper Send Off for PCB

After the Jag’s Senior Night was canceled last year because of rain, the Jaguars baseball team was able to hold the yearly tradition this Wednesday. The pre-game ceremony featured seniors Paul “PJ” Abolafia Jr., Dylan “DJ” Escobar, Matthew O’Brien, Thomas Lesmes, and Augusto Calienes, along with their families. The guys didn’t see this as a ceremonial game though, as they’re leaning heavily on their remaining games for their seeding going into the district tournament.

Co-Captain Paul Abolafia Jr. took it upon himself to rally the troops before the crucial night: “The schedule says we have four more games till playoffs. No, playoffs start today! Lock in and let’s go!”

And lock in they did! With packed bleachers and the typical senior night atmosphere, “PJ” was on the mound for the Jags, and the senior threw his second complete game of the season; the last one against St. Thomas Aquinas, this time against NSU University School.

The Jags offense contributed as well, with 4 of the 6 seniors collecting hits in the game.

In the end, the Jags took home the win 3-2 over the Sharks on their special night, and gave their seniors a memorable final home game.
