Romance movies are very heart warming and just set the mood for when you want to cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner here are the top ten all time best romance movies.

  1. My Girl (1991)

My Girl is a movie that should be on everyone’s watch list because it was originally a book and was made into a movie. My Girl is about an 11 year old girl [Vada] who unfortunately lost her mother when she was born, this made a huge effect on her life and her dad who is an uncaring widower does not help the situation. She has a best friend named Thomas Sennett who is by her side throughout the summer, one of his missions was to find Vada’s moon ring. Many teens such as myself would watch this movie because it looks like a sweet movie based on the cover and the trailer. It also gave a lot of variety in one movie which many people including myself love. Freshman Makenna Angeletos even said  “This movie shows a lot of obstacles for a pre-teen girl whose life was practically turned upside down.” This quote can relate to many people as people change and evolve in the course of a small part of their life. This movie allows people to create a connection with the audience and encourages them to comfort people and let them know they are not alone. Talented actors Anna Chlumsky (Vada) and Macaulay Culkin (Tomas) did a great job bringing these characters to life.

  1. Marry Me (2022)

Marry me is a newer movie that includes famous pop star Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson. This movie is about two music superstars who are getting married in front of their global audience of fans. But Kat Valdez finds out that her about to be husband was untrustworthy and she impulsively decides to marry a fan from the crowd named Charlie. This movie is one of those movies that will hold the suspense and has a lot of moving parts to it.

  1. Crazy Stupid Love (2011)

Freshman Angelica Maria Diaz holds a strong love for this movie. She often believes, “each rom com is a different story and portrays love differently from different points of view. It also shows different emotions and there are also different love triangles in every rom com.” That is exactly what Crazy Stupid Love is, it is about a husband whose life changes suddenly when his wife wants a divorce. He needs to rediscover his attractiveness and maturity with the help of a friend, Jacob, who helps him find a new love.

  1. Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between (2022)

Not all romance movies are just about falling in love, it’s also about staying connected and realizing what works best for a couple. Hello, Goodbye and Everything in Between is a new movie released on Netflix as it shows the real side of a highschool relationship once college is in the air. This film is all about regaining the relationship Claire and Aidan have as they question if they should break up or stay together in college. This film has a mix of emotions but holds a great meaning to it.

  1. Notting Hill (1999)

Talented director Roger Michell is most commonly known for directing Notting Hill. This film is a great pick me up and is one of those movies that holds a lot of chemistry between the characters. Freshman Kaylee Suyama says, “I love watching rom coms because it’s something fun and sweet to watch get unraveled as they fall in love with each other.” This movie is about bookstore owner William Thacker who unexpectedly meets a famous movie star Anna Scott in his store, later on they unite.

  1. Titanic (1997)

As this is a 14 time Oscar nominated and 11 time Best Picture film award-winning film, Titanic is an iconic love story that has never been forgotten. As they celebrate the 25th anniversary, the movie is now being replayed in the theaters. A lot of hard work and deviation went into this three hour long movie as it was directed by the loving James Cameron.

  1. Father Of The Bride (2022)

As this movie hits the big screen again, Father Of The Bride is a funny romance movie that many people rave continually about. It features Andy Garcia as the lead role playing Billy and Adria Arjona as Sofia Herrera; they both do a great job playing these characters while also keeping the legacy of the old version of the movie alive. Father Of The Bride shows a father coming to terms with his daughter’s engagement, which is shown through many relationships within a big Cuban-American family.

  1. Grease (1978)

Another 70’s summer hit, Grease is a romantic musical that often gets people on their toes. It is about a soft girl Sandy Olsson and rebel boy Danny Zuko who fell in love over the summer. They both realize they go to the same highschool and how they need to reconnect their love for eachother. Freshman Gabriella Gittens says, “rom coms got really popular during the

90s and 2000s. I think they became popular because the mix of comedy and romance is a perfect mix and balance for everyone.”

  1. To All the Boys: Always and Forever (2021)

On the more relatable side of movies, there is such a thing called young love. Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean fall in love after much trial and error when Lara’s top secret love letters get out to all of her old crushes without her knowing. By the third movie both Kavinsky and Jean are planning for college and they don’t know if their relationship will hold on. This trilogy is one of those rom coms that has shown a lot of growth in many things and is also very sentimental.

  1. Pretty Woman (1990)

Pretty Woman should also be on your must watch list because it is not your typical romance. This movie gives a lot of action as Edward Lewis, who is in a legal but hurtful business, needs an assistant, which he does succeed at, but he also falls madly in love with. Gabriella Gittens also mentioned, “the characters and their backgrounds makes each rom com so different because you get to learn new characters and their personalities.”
