This summer was filled with all sorts of music and fun! Especially living in south Florida, the close stadiums grant us great opportunities to hear music go from the studio to the stage. This summer there were various concerts, like those at the Rolling Loud music festival along with The Weekend’s and Bad Bunny’s concerts at the Hard Rock Stadium. Even with all the wide range of music tastes everyone has, south Florida really encapsulated the summer vibes with energizing music experiences that many students around PPCHS were able to partake in.

Get Loud at Rolling Loud

The annual music festival Rolling Loud took place in the middle of summer from the weekend of July 22 to July 24. Just like other popular musical events, Rolling Loud presents a multitude of artists over three days. The main artists this year were YE, Future, and Kendrick Lamar. Asking a fellow Jag, sophomore Nyle Paredes explained that “It was one of the best experiences [he’s] ever had. Even though at times it got shoulder to shoulder and it got hard to breathe, at some points it was still the best time of my life.” Known as the largest rap festival in the world, many people argue that Rolling Loud is one of the best summer events to attend.

An Electrifying Day With The Weeknd

On Saturday, August 6, popular R&B/Soul singer, The Weeknd, took his After Hours Til Dawn Tour to the Hard Rock Stadium. With a sold-out crowd and a rich voice, he performed all of his well-known hits, which were described by many as the greatest experience ever, since his last tour in 2017. Junior Grace Arce shared that she “loved it, [The Weeknd] sang all of his most popular songs and they also gave these really cool wristbands that lit up so the entire stadium was flashing as he sang. It was really pretty to see everyone all together, singing.” Though fans were also eager to see Doja Cat come out with The Weeknd, the rapper unfortunately canceled. Luckily, Snoh Aalegra, DJ Mike  Dean, and Kaytranada were there to make up for her absence.

Good Vibes With Bad Bunny

In August, the well-loved Bad Bunny, one of the most famous Hispanic artists, came to Miami to perform his newest album “Un Verano Sin Ti”. With a summer theme, he sold out two dates at the Hard Rock Stadium, filling all its seats with people dressed in bathing suits, neon-colored outfits, and sunglasses. On the first concert date, Friday, August 12th, Bad Bunny brought onto the stage Jhay Cortez, Mora, and Nengo Flow as guest artists with DJ Alessio as his opening set. As opposed to Friday, Bad Bunny only brought out one guest performer, DIPLO, on Saturday, August 13th. He added wristbands that lit up and simultaneously flowed with every song performed for each person to wear during the concert. Senior Alinah Adorno attended the concert on Friday the 12th and said, “The vibes were immaculate, the summer outfits and light-up bracelets were super cool and were definitely my favorite parts.” Bad Bunny ended off both nights by performing two songs on a floating palm tree roaming around the stadium. Fans can’t wait to see what Benito has to bring next–he definitely hit the spot with “El Último Tour Del Mundo.”
