Charter’s Best Recognized

As the spring season winds down, the annual Sun Sentinel and Miami Herald All County team selections have come out, and as usual, numerous Pembroke Pines Charter athletes have been selected to some of the squads. After years of dedication, our student athletes have been recognized by the state and the county as the top athletes in the region. Here are the 2021-2022 all county athletes at Pembroke Pines Charter High School:

 

Soccer:

Ryan Palelis

  • All County First Team 
  • First year attacker; scored 13 goals with 5 assists 
  • Second top goal scorer with over 1000 minutes and looking to make huge impact in his senior year

Alex Champagne 

  • Second Year starter and Captain 
  • Totaled over 1400 minutes as the team’s Center Back
  • Assisted goal to win district title vs. Archbishop Mccarthy 

Nic Roman

  • Four year Varsity player, Captain for two years
  • Second all county team recognition 
  • Scored 14 goals and 2 assists in 13 games after coming off injury 
  • Scored 5 goals in regional quarterfinals vs Lely High School 

 

Second Team and Honorable mentions also went out to seniors Gabriel Diaz, Lorenzo Muscarella, Lorenzo Sanches, and junior Lucas Giron. 

 

Basketball:

Kolby King 

  • State Champion senior guard and SJU commit 
  • Led the team in scoring averaging 15.3 points a game
  • Performed in top games against the likes of Columbus, Central Catholic and Westminster

 

Elijah Wyche 

  • State Champion Senior guard/forward 
  • Wyche averaged almost a double double with 12 points and 8 rebounds and shot 78% from the field
  • Performed at the highest level of high school basketball with great performances against Sierra Canyon, STA, and Central Catholic
  • Still undecided as to where his future in basketball will take him

 

Geoff Sprouse (Miami Herald Player of the Year)

  • 5 year senior Guard and State Champion
  • Averaged 14.3 points a game shooting 60% from the field
  • 1000 point scorer at Pembroke Pines Charter High School 
  • Holds an offer from FGCU
