This year’s halftime show was said to be the best one the nation has had in years. No disrespect to Michel Jackson or Beyonce, but this Super Bowl had a lot of different genres and was filled with a lot of energy. The Super Bowl consisted of Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre, 50 cent Mary J Blige, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar. They each had their own segments and the overall theme was Dre Day.

The first segment of the halftime show included Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre: they performed one of their hits, the “Next Episode”. Next was Mary J Blige with her sparkling new outfit; she performed fan-favorite songs including “Family Affair” and “No More Pain”. She put a lot of effort and emotion into her song as well as her dance. The next rapper up was 50 cent, which came as a surprise for most people, since it wasn’t previously announced that he would be performing. The best thing of all was that he killed his performance, and sung “In da Club”, which hyped everyone up. Next was Eminem who came to us at supersonic speed, with his crazy rhymes and fast rapping: he performed his hit song “Lose Yourself”. Moments after performing it, he kneeled to show his support of the Black Lives Matter Movement. It was a very surreal scene, and very unexpected. And after this, rapper Kendrick Lamar comes out rapping one of his famous songs, “HUMBLE”.

Since we are in a pandemic, many people watched the Super Bowl on TV and had many opinions on how they felt about the performances. Sophomore, Kaya Pierre, stated that,

“When I heard that Go, go, go, go, go, go I knew who it was right away and I was shocked because I had no idea he was going to be there. And from there I was in front of the Tv dancing. And jamming out to 50 Cent.” The SuperBowl Halftime made her excited and ready to party. Another Sophomore, Alexis Williams, said that “The Super Bowl Halftime was dry and not giving until Mary J Blige added the seasoning to the pot. I only knew like 2 songs and I don’t even watch football so I was looking forward to it, overall. I also loved it when Kendrick Lamar came out, and had rapped one of my favorite songs, “HUMBLE””. Another Sophmore, Maddison Matrone, “The halftime show was everything I could wish for and more. Everyone that performed that night were some of my favorite singers and rappers and did amazing, especially Eminem!”  Overall, the Superbowl was a blast! It was vibrant and exciting, but also a little dull and boring at some parts. Let’s not dwell on those parts and focus more on how great the performances were. Furthermore, this halftime show was one of the best shows many have seen in years, and nothing may be able to change that.
