Christmas is right around the corner, and everyone is ready to begin listening to their favorite Christmas songs. There are so many different Christmas songs to help people get into the spirit, with many different genres such as pop, gospel, and even jazz. Here is the condensed version of my top 5 favorite Christmas songs:

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

The number one song everyone needs to listen to is “Santa Claus is coming to town by The Jackson 5”. This song is considered to be my favorite one on this list because it is a very liked pop song, and one unique thing about this song is that the king of rock, Michael Jackson was part of the group that had sung the song. This song is also very vibrant and great for children to listen to. And I chose this song because this song is played a lot in December, more than many other songs, and it also helps you get into the Christmas spirit.

All I Want For Christmas Is You

The second song on this list is “All I want for Christmas is you”, by Mariah Carey, a world-renown singer. One very cool fact about this song is that it is the first song to be hit in 4 separate decades. This song really explained that Christmas is not all about presents and gifts, which is what many children today believe. This song means a lot to me because it is played a lot in my household, ever since I was younger, so the song brings back many memories from my past.

Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel

The next song on this list is a song mostly sung during Hanukkah called Dreidel, Dreidel,  Dreidel. This song talks mainly about a Dreidel, which is a 4 sided  spinning top with Hebrew letters on each side that are used in children’s games that are traditionally played during Hanukkah. Children often sing the song and play with the dreidel, and you can also create your own. Overall, this is wonderful for children and even adults to listen to during Hanukkah since it is very joyful and merry and great for the winter season.

Oh Holy Night.

The fourth song on my list is “Oh Holy Night”. This song is by an old composer, named Adolph Adam but today Pattie La Belle was shown to be the best singer for the song. This is a song for religious people. This song is about the night Jesus, who is the son of God, was born. This song means a lot to me and my family since we are Christian. This song is also very calming and has been covered by many singers, such as Mariah Carey and Kelly Clarkson.

Umoja

The last song is a song often sung during Kwanzaa called Umoja  by Jacquie Godden. This song describes the first day of Kwanzaa., and also describes what Umoja means, which is unity.  The song is very cheerful and upbeat, and also brings  everyone together. It describes  a world where everyone is living in love and harmony. This song overall will give you a sense of peace and love , and will also give you a better understanding on the first day of Kwanzaa.
