Over time, students can get tired of the same old run-of-the-mill Halloween costumes, and many scour the Internet for news, exciting ways to dress up. Whether students’ plans this Halloween are to turn heads, give chills, or just enjoy the spooky night, finding the perfect Halloween costume can be half the thrill. Solo Costume Ideas

Halloween can still be just as fun without a match. Dress up as Hermione Granger with a robe, a wand, and a stack of “spells.” Channel Hello Kitty with a flattering white top, a pink or red skirt, and the signature bow headband, or embrace a spooky vibe as Pennywise with a white, blood-splattered outfit and a red balloon as the accessory.

“This year, I’m planning to be Catwoman. I saw it on TikTok, and I’d be an excellent fit for this costume,” junior Madison Maylor says. “I’m buying parts of the costume and making the rest myself since it’s made of separate pieces. I plan on wearing a bodysuit on top of a corset, a belt, and cat ears.” 

Some excellent solo ideas for boys include dressing as a scarecrow with a striped red-and-white shirt, overalls, boots, and a hat to complete the look. Another classic costume is a vampire in a black tuxedo. Complete the look with fake fangs, slicked back hair, and pale makeup with a red-tinted undereye.

Peas in a pod

Having a lover isn’t mandatory to shine on Halloween. Instead, many students dress up with their best friends. These adorable duo costumes prove that friendship is all people need to be two peas in a pod, showing up side by side, ready to steal the spotlight together. 

Junior Emerson Toledo says, “I’m planning to dress up as a hunter and pair up with someone to be a deer. This year, I will be going DIY and buying some camo pants, a long-sleeve shirt, and a hat. I prefer trendy costumes because I find them more enjoyable. My favorite past costume was definitely from last year’s, where I was a frat boy.”

Go full comedy mode with Dumb and Dumber characters Lloyd and Harry. Opt for bright tuxedos, one orange and the other bright blue, paired with matching hats and bow ties, and add canes and fake mustaches. For the frenemy duo, Raquelle and Barbie are a great option, with Barbie shining in an all-pink outfit, complete with heels and glam accessories. Barbie’s outfit contrasts with Raquelle’s, who wears a stylish outfit in darker colors like black, purple, or silver. 

Boo’d up

Love is definitely in the spooky air this Halloween. For couples looking to show off their chemistry, there are plenty of creative costume ideas to choose from. 

“I’m going to be Bo Peep from Toy Story, and my boyfriend is going to be Woody,” says sophomore Gabby Suarez. “My favorite costume to date was Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, but this year I wanted to mix things up. I’ve recently found it much more fun to coordinate with my friends and plan things together.”

Kat Stratford and Pat Verona from 10 Things I Hate About You can be a perfect costume for any couple. Dress in their iconic paintball scene: overalls with colorful paint splatter all over them. Go intergalactic with Star Wars’ Padme Amidala and Anakin Skywalker, featuring Padme dressed in white fitted pants, a silver armband, white boots, and hair sleeked into a bun, while Anakin wears a brown or black tunic, dark pants with a black or brown belt with a pouch, and, to top it off, a toy lightsaber. 

Whether students opt to dress up together or solo, Halloween 2025 is sure to be one for the books. Halloween offers a chance for friends to come together and share interests through their costumes. Take advantage of the time left until Halloween, and rush for a last-minute costume if necessary. Nevertheless, enjoy the spooky Friday night!
