After surviving unimaginable horrors, siblings Finney and Gwenn Black are still trying to piece their lives back together. What was a typical night for Gwenn, consisting of paralyzing and unsettling nightmares, turned into more than just dreams as a real-life horror. Located in Denver, Colorado, the Alpine Mountains, Gwenn and Ernesto persuaded Finney to join them as a counselor at a Christian camp that their mom once attended in her younger years.
Upon arriving at the Alpine Mountains, the group was greeted by a massive snowstorm. The camp directors informed them that they would have to separate the boys and girls in their dorm rooms. Everyone made it to their room, Finney accompanied by Ernesto, but Gwen was all alone. Being by herself made audiences feel Gwenn’s anxiety through the screen, elevating the thrill and suspense.
Following an incident in the camp’s kitchen, Finn and Gwenn took it upon themselves to reveal the events of the past years to the camp owner. This included the mysterious phone calls, Finney’s kidnapping, and the horrific dreams Gwenn endured every night. Working together as a team, they all figured out the way to put a halt to the Grabber’s malicious and murderous desires.
While watching the movie, it was evident that the directors had added more gore to the plot in comparison to the first movie. Along with the fear aspect, the directors incorporated many more emotional moments into the film. Finn and Gwenn comforted each other while witnessing their most challenging obstacles. These wholehearted moments show that even when you can be lost in the darkness, a call up from the people you are closest to can be more comforting than expected.
The movie also delves into the intricacies of what it’s like after experiencing a traumatic event. It vividly portrays how hallucinations and paranoia can remain no matter how long it has been.
