Choose Peace/Stop Violence is an initiative led by Broward County Public Schools and Pembroke Pines Charter has joined the mission the week of September 22-26. With the goal of building community among students and educating the youth, the Student Government Association (SGA) has united efforts to encourage students to wear a ribbon to showcase peace. On Friday, students were asked to wear white polo and spirit shirts to bring about positive change to reduce youth crime and violence.
Senior Aiden Oscar describes peace week as a week that “positively impacted our campus because it showed that we can show a unified front. Seeing everyone wear white on Friday and wearing their ribbons showed that people actually cared and that brought us together.” The 16th Annual Choose Peace/Stop Violence Week was a success among the Charter population and together Jags were able to unite during this celebration of peace.
