After a hot day in South Florida, a cold and refreshing sweet treat sounds like the perfect craving. Near Pembroke Pines Charter Central Campus, this Italian ice cream shop is a staple.
Rosie’s Italian Ice (Rosie’s) is crowded with many from Broward County, including Pines Charter students. Not only is it a convenient place nearby school, the dessert being sold is very delicious.
As soon as you step foot in the shop, vibrant colors suddenly surround you. The colorful signs, murals, and seating instantly lift one’s mood after a long day.
Something frequenters to the shop will notice right away is the pictures of customers on the wall. The picture gives the place a nostalgic and comforting feeling.
The owner, Scott Rosengarten, is still currently working at the shop and loves it. Rosengarten states, “My favorite part about having this job making the product right here.”
Everything in Rosie’s is made there in the shop, which reassures customers they are getting a fresh taste of ice cream.
The ice cream shop is named after Rosengarten’s grandmother, who meant the world to him.
For 31 years, Rosengarten has poured time and effort into his job, with his love for it only growing stronger. When someone walks in, he greets them with a smile and a warm hello. Little does he know, a nice greeting can change the mood of a customer’s day.
This makes a difference, even if it’s a small one. Many Pembroke Pines Charter High School (PPCHS) students have gone to Rosie’s and tasted their sweet treats themselves.
Sophomore Sophia Salomon has been going to Rosie’s since her seventh grade year.
She states, “I like to get the radio ball. I like it most because it switches things up. It’s not just one flavor the whole time.”
The radio bowl is a cup full of half Italian ice (any flavor) and soft served ice cream.
Sophomore Renata Enriquez, another frequent customer, states, “When I go to Rosie’s, I get cookies and cream or a soft serve swirl with chocolate and vanilla.” Both of these desserts are must haves.
Rosie’s Italian Ice provides everything you need for a hot day in Broward County. Rosengarten recommends that new customers try, “The lemon, pineapple, and cotton candy [flavors]. My favorites are cherry bordeaux, chocolate, and vanilla chip.”
It is overall a great local ice cream shop that many should stop by and check out.
